Just pay him
Would be silly to lock him in right now when one of our strongest assets is flexibility.
The cons of sighing him now far outweigh the pros
Depending what the asking price is, I’d rather us gamble on paying him now then let him be the tank commander and possibly put up great numbers on a depleted roster.
I’m guessing his value now is going to be less than next summer after he was given team leader duties
There’s no reason to pay him now unless he’s willing to go below the max, which I find very hard to believe
He’ll probably end up becoming a RFA in the end, unless he puts up a legit all star season this year.
