How is this even a question.

Every single retired NBA MVP is in the Hall of Fame.
    Stop being stupid, peoples.

  3. It’s the Basketball Hall of Fame not the NBA Hall of Fame so he’ll make it off his total resume: high school, college and NBA career combined. If Vlade Divac and Bill Bradley can make it Rose is a lock imo.

I think it’s arguable for 2 primary reasons:

    1. No other MVP has ever missed the hall of fame, even though Rose has BY FAR the weakest case

    2. It’s the hall of FAME. Rose is, simply put, famous. While his counting stats and accolades (aside from MVP) don’t even come close to hall of fame worthy, it’s inarguable that he had a huge impact on the game. He won an MVP, had another deep playoff run (and all-star season), was a star in college, and was wildly popular. That shouldn’t be the only criterion, but it’s part of the criteria we should use.

I legit think his peak pre-injury was so incredible that he should make it off the strength. Also, the speech would be incredible and probably put the entire building to tears. I’m sure there’s dudes who never sniffed the heights he did that are in the HOF.

But I’m biased; that Celtics/Bulls first round series in the 09 Playoffs is what got me hooked on basketball. So take what I say with a grain of salt.

It never ceases to amaze me how people are willing to stand up for this guy. I’ll never understand it.

    Here’s where I’ll start:
Rose’s Similarity Score on basketball reference:
    Dana Barros
    Wesley Person
    Derek Anderson
    Monta Ellis
    Eric Snow
    Eddie Johnson
    Phil Smith
    Vinny Del Negro
    Kendall Gill
    Craig Ehlo

We can’t start giving people credit for what they should or could have done. It’s what they DID do. If that were the case, Bill Walton is the greatest ever and Jay Williams, Sam Bowie, Ralph Sampson would be legends. But they aren’t. And neither is Rose.

In 2013 he started practicing 10 months after his injury. He was medically cleared to play. He chose not to. So his teammates saw him at practice every day for four months and in the end he abandoned them.

2014: *“I’m thinking about long term. I’m thinking about after I’m done with basketball. Having graduations to go to, having meetings to go to, I don’t want to be in my meetings all sore or be at my son’s graduation all sore just because of something I did in the past. [I’m] just learning and being smart.”*
So much for the heart and toughness I guess.

In 2015 he feuded with Butler and basically quit in an elimination game.

His college game? Sure, great player for the one season he was there (if you exclude the part about him choking away the championship game). Then he leaves for the pros and that whole season is wiped out because he couldn’t pass the SAT on his own and had to have someone else take the test for him.

Then there’s the rape case. He found “not liable” in the case, but if you read his testimony, it’s pretty safe to assume he’s a disgusting human being (he admits he doesn’t know what consent means)

All this and people are trying to make a case he’s a Hall of Famer?

Lol, definitely 100% will be inducted. The MVP alone is enough!

Two gold medals and the youngest MVP
Also the most electrifying guard to play the game in the last 30 years
    His highlight tape is incredible
