“Reps, I’m positive after Jordan Poole that we are not paying you until you play out the year.”- Mikey Big D probably.

MDJ in a podcast interview he did with TK right after the draft concluded on June 27th in response to a question about progress on a Klay contract renewal:

    >Yeah, Tim, these are pretty private conversations. For me to get into, I do think there’s a level of privacy that we and Klay deserve and we owe to Klay to not really get into that. Like, it’s almost family business, you know? And so l’m probably refrained from answering that one, but **l’d say there’s been consistent dialogue, there’s been good conversations**, and we’ll see what happens.

Anthony Slater in an article on June 28th, the day after the draft:

    >While the Warriors examine the feasibility of the George situation and explore the rest of their options around the league, they’ve left the future of a franchise legend off to the side and increased the risk of losing him. There remains no official contract offer and **little contact between Thompson and the Warriors.**

I’m more inclined to extend Moody immediately than Kuminga.

Mainly because my thinking is this: you can extend Moody for cheap. That will be a tradeable contract.

Kuminga on the other-hand is going to be a massive contract no matter what and you are probably better off letting him prove it over the span of the season instead of giving him $240M+ right now.

Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t. Poor roster management and construction has left MDJ with no good options.

Like this is a play-in team, maybe they can sneak into the actual playoffs. But don’t want to make a significant investment in a team that can’t win? Ask Portland how that works, overpaying and hoping for the best.
