[Weiss] Jaylen Brown explains why he made his own basketball sneaker: “Honestly, boredom. It would be great for it to be successful. But even if it’s not, who cares? I’m just kind of tired of seeing the same old things, the deals constructed the same way… “

Tweet continues: “…So hopefully in the next 20 years, even if this isn’t like super successful, that it sparks other athletes, other creators to have the courage to start to build stuff on their own.”

Honestly, the shoes look pretty good and they aren’t crazy expensive for his own brand. Props to him and his team.

I once spent like 5 hours using those custom Nike shoemaker things online so I understand.

No one bought my design, not even myself because I was too broke lol

  4. Turd_Ferguson_Lives_

Damn that’s a fucking awful looking shoe. It looks like a walmart shoe with Lisa Frank colored crystals hot glued to it.

Best of luck to him, but this shoe ain’t it.

  5. Literal_Satan

I don’t think they look that bad, but they’ll be polarizing. Either way I can respect an athlete doing something like this more than blowing the money at the club or a fancy vacation to Cabo for the 100th time

  6. Bro talks like he reinvented the shoe and comes out with that

  7. Enough_Lakers

There are some miserable shrews on this thread.

Yup, one thing about today’s society is everything marketing related is boring. Especially sports apparel. I doubt it will but I hope it starts a new trend for players. Theres such a lack of variety in marketing/apparel today compared to previous generations.

Tbh it’d be cool if this started a wave with players venturing into experimenting with their own lines. If they can find designers that know how to make sneakers that won’t risk injury any more than the main lines and can be bought at a reasonable price, more power to em

I love JB so much I’m willing to overlook him dirty mackin Bronny

  11. AreYouDecent

People might clown him, but I appreciate people breaking out of the control of the major corporations that have dominated the market for so long.

  12. oxodoboxo

Respect the idea but the shoes are mid, not worth 200 bucks.

  13. Fluffy_Dance6101

Please please please Jaylen Brown get bored and send me money. That’s pretty forward thinking and different if you ask me

  14. inshamblesx

am i blind as fuck or do those shoes look more like running shoes

  15. dizzymidget44

I dig it. Like if it works cool. If it doesn’t, who cares. My motto in life

  16. TigerKlaw

“I am tired of this world; these companies. I’m tired of being caught in the tangle of their sneakers”

  17. Ok_Sound_8090

I respect that. I hope it does well now. I mean, I won’t buy one since I don’t like the way the shoe looks, but I respect it.

  18. PillsburyToasters

I don’t blame him for doing so. You want to do something, have both the time and money to make it work and, as he said, doesn’t care if it flops. Why not just go for it?

  19. Dafunkk

Do anything else besides rapping please. His track with A$AP Ferg made my ears bleed.

  20. thrusterbragon

Can he make sure we get League Pass for free again? Out of boredom

  21. somermike

Stephon Marbury crawled so JB could walk 🙂

  22. cooldudeman007

He’s only doing this because he doesn’t have a deal with one of the big companies

  23. jumboponcho

I fuck with it, long as he’s staying out the studio

  24. HustleWilson

Imagine turning down $50 mil because you’re bored…

  25. undercoverdyslexic

I think people are getting too focused on the boredom thing. He does plenty for the city of Boston and Atlanta. I don’t think he is bored, I think he wants to break the status quo of shoe deals and if it fails it fails.

  26. Enough_Ambition_3281

JB just wants to do his own thing ain’t nothing wrong with that

  27. james_randolph

I’m glad he just said this instead of doing it to uplift the community and this and that. It’s important but yeah, sometimes you just do shit to do it and see what’s good with no other motive.

  28. UnlimitedManny

So why price your shoes higher than the other distributors 😭

  29. We already have Big Baller Brand and Lonzo’s knees as precedents
