Ivey isn’t competing with Tim Hardaway at all. He’s competing with Malik Beasley, in which he will lose. Beasley’s going to be the starting 2.
You've kept yourself in an echo chamber too long. Just because many repeat that Ivey might not start, hardly makes it any closer to the truth.
However, there is an issue that could mean Ivey coming off the bench. It has zero to do with Ivey really. Here is the real issue: The current "popular" starting unit is Cade, Ivey, Fontecchio, Harris, Duren. But this unit has way too little defense, in particular way too little help defense at the hoop.
So, changing the starting unit to Cade, Fontecchio, Harris, Thompson, Duren, might be needed.
As you can see, your second point also makes little sense. Thompson will most likely end up starting for his defense. Any improvement in his shooting will be a bonus.
Piston fans always want to turn a player into something their not ivey is a SG play him to his strengths play everybody to their strengths if he a scorer let him be that don't say (oh I wanna see him facilitate more) that's not his game we got somebody to do that already..I swear piston fans hate offense
