Would he have been better for that team over Jeremy Lin or just as unimpactful?

It would’ve been a huge distraction and might have even hurt our title odds. There would’ve been a lot of pressure on Nurse to play him

Fuck Vince Carter

I’m glad he wasn’t on the team. Definitely would be a distraction and he doesn’t deserve a charity ring from the Raptors.

I love J Lin

Good. Doesn’t deserve a ring with us.

I always got this vibe from Masai and I wasn’t down with it – I respect what Ujiri’s done for the franchise but he’s looking at Vince as an NBA great, and not as Raptors fans experienced him in 2004/05 and the aftermath. Including getting knocked out by the Nets in 2007.
Given the history that was the LAST thing we needed in a post season where everything had to go just right for us to pull it off.
It would have been a feel good moment in hindsight- but it would have absolutely sucked if we lost, it would have looked like a pretty unserious move to bring VC back to ring chase. Then Kawhi walks… then what.
Yeah, glad it didn’t happen

Kinda misleading. Lowry talked to him about it and obviously he (and the Raps) weren’t interested. He could have easily asked for a release from Memphis if he really wanted to come back to Toronto. Fuck him.

If he didn’t quit on the team and lie his way out of Toronto, there would definitely be more love for Vince

Well I’m glad it was Jeremy Lin. There’s nothing I would change about the way that team was constructed.

The sanctimonious gatekeepers on this sub are going to turn everyone away

I wonder what’s OP issue with Jeremy Lin.
jjkiller26
It would’ve been a distraction imo. Even though I support his jersey retirement it was the right move not bringing him back in 19

I remember this being reported at the time as well, honestly I kind of wish it did happen. Closure is something that almost never happens naturally in pro sports. Typically it’s reserved for how the situation with Vince is right now. Not on the court, but off court and it feels a little hollow as a result. If Vince wins a championship, then both he and Raptors fans get closure to their relationship.

No. He wanted a 2 year extension to come.
