Yeah some people just talk about his strength. But he was quick and explosive as hell for his size. Not only massively stronger than Dpoy Mutumbo, but a lot quicker too. Shit was never fair. And obv he was even faster during his Magic days

Shaq was literally a man playing against children in the NBA. 😂

  3. I remember Eddy Curry (who was 300-pounds himself) saying that getting hit by Shaq “was like being in a car accident.”

  4. Frye was a rookie in 05-06, so this is (at the earliest) against 33 year old Shaq, when he had started to decline (no he wasn’t in the running for MVP that year, regardless of what he himself might say). Just imagine what young Shaq would do in today’s game. A bigger, stronger Giannis is perhaps the closest comparison I can think of.

Keep in mind that Channing Frye entered the NBA when Shaq was with the HEAT, so he didn’t even face anything near the best Shaq had to offer in terms of athleticism.

This is why Shaq’s stats, while impressive and all time great, undersell him. He could just turn it on for a quarter and win a game against many matchups. Which is also why the entire league basically had centers that were big enough to slow him down even if they gave up in other skills (and Frye wasn’t one of them).

Don’t care what people think, Shaq is a top 5 player of all time. And I fucking hate the dude and think he’s a cunt

I played high school ball in AZ and played against Frye once in an AAU summer game. I was decent enough to get some juco offers. He absolutely dominated me and I fouled out quickly trying to stop him from doing what he wanted. Shaq was dominating every player that was used to always dominating. Insane power and speed.

  10. Who was it who once said he tried to foul Shaq by swiping down at his arm, but ended up being lifted up weightlessly by Shaq?

Bro in my rec league earlier this year this dude who played pro ball in Europe came barreling down the court at one point and rammed full force into me, he’s past his prime for sure but still he’s probably 6’4 pushing 275 I’m guessing, built like out of shape Charles Barkley. I’m a big guy myself but this man made my knees buckle which is a crazy feeling, all that to say I cannot even imagine what it would’ve been like to try and guard prime Shaq, that’s actually scary
