He was not a Laker, but he was a great ambassador for and legend in the game. Rest in peace.

Damn R.I.P. to him. He seemed like a great man.

Very fond memories of Dikembe. One of the only players brave enough to want to take on the challenge of guarding prime Shaq himself. Great player and an even better person

  3. The NBA family lost another all time great. Dikembe was one of the driving forces of the global game. From the many stories I’ve heard, he was a great human as well. Fuck cancer.

  4. Fuck cancer.

RIP to one of the best defensive bigs the league had seen. Your elimination of the Sonics in ‘94 is still one of the best underdog stories.

I was never a fan of the teams he was on but always respected his game!

Dude, no way. This is really sad. 58 is crazy young. So many great memories of Mutumbo as an opposing player. Man, this made me sad today. 🙁

I was always a huge fan of centers in the 90s… Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, Mutombo, Sabonis. Mutombo was a great defender but an even better human being. He made others lives better.

Ah shit, WAY too soon, had no idea he was fighting cancer. RIP legend.
