  1. Naz is better than KAT offensively and defensively. It's that simple. Can you justify bringing 50 million off the bench?

  2. This video seems to take Randle starting at the 4 as a foregone conclusion and I'm not sure that's justified with Naz Reid in the lineup.

  3. Randle hits good corner 3s like what Kat was supposed to do but didnt, gives a solid drive/post game n playmaking – what slowmo did so well in the team. Now hes got donte ant conley dillingham to pass to. Its going to be trouble at all. Team's gotten better n the fits r great

  4. My concern with Randle is how long will he be here? Will he want to be part of something here or will he go shopping his talents as soon as he can. Did he talk at Media day?

  5. Shooting spacing floor and efficiency are all the same things and when he didn’t have those in the wcf he was worthless particularly at cost

  6. Randal is a better , he can create his own shot ..that's why ant was getting doubled so much ironic how and say he work most on catch and shoot 3 ball.. they needed more shot creation

  7. Naz, in his current form, can fill maybe 70-75% of what KAT's skillset was on this team. Will he be KAT ever? No, because his build is different, which was KAT's biggest advantage when paired with his skillset. But, Naz can easily be a trail 3pt shooter when needed, a pick & pop guy at the top of the key, and went downhill off the catch at a pretty similar rate to KAT (and often more controlled because of his lesser build).

I also noted to myself multiple times last year that Naz had the best low post game of anyone on the roster. Part of that is the low bar of KAT and Rudy's ability in the block, but I truly felt you could see where Naz put in work with drop steps and low post moves in the offseason (Randle might even be able to elevate and teach him more!).

Sure, he also benefits from going against reserves sometimes and he needs to step up further this season, but I've honestly seen more ability to grow and add to his game than KAT ever showed.

  8. I have a lot of questions for Randle's fit with the rest of the roster. Despite how maligned he was in NY, he's still a good player.

And a very different player from KAT. He's not the shooter or even scorer that KAT is, but he's an on-ball playmaker who's way better than KAT at finding open shooters on the perimeter (something that we as a team struggled a lot last season). I'm unsure how much of this will be mitigated by his shaky ballhandling and inconsistent jumpshot. It's gonna be a question for the coaching staff to answer. If he can somewhat play like a bigger, more aggressive Kyle Anderson with quicker decision making and playing link-up rather than stalling the offense, I can see it working, but misgivings are valid to have.

He's also been a part of some good defensive Knicks lineups. I have no doubt that we have better defensive personnel than the Knicks, but it's gonna take a while for him to gel within the Timberwolves defense. Hell, we made KAT look decent on the defensive end, why can't Randle become a positive there?

Randle is cheaper and on an expiring contract (which is why the entire trade was needed in the first place). Will he be okay with taking a smaller role like KAT did? Will we re-sign him, or let him walk regardless of how well he plays? Rudy and Naz are due for big paydays, and NAW might be looking for a bag too. Our cap is stiff even without KAT's contract.

I don't think we're talking about Donte enough. He's a volume 3pt shooter, the best one we've managed to get since Malik Beasley. Defense isn't like NAW caliber or anything but we've seen that he's a hustle guy. He can also bring the ball up the floor and make those perimeter swing passes. And he's on a super team-friendly contract. Our beat writers have been saying that Donte is the main piece we traded for, and I think I agree.

Losing KAT sucks, but this trade was happening regardless. I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out.

  9. you didn't include donte in this. he's a great asset as well.
we have to remember that this is also more of a cap move in order to keep the young core intact longer.
i think naz will take over the kat duties on pick and pops and randle will be bruising down low, pushing the pace in transitions either to the rim or kick it out to donte/naw/ant/naz/jmac who can all know it down.
add dillingham to the mix and i say we have a reeeeally interesting squad.

  10. People always say that KAT provides spacing but I think that’s a bit of an illusion because of how good a shooter he is. I’ve been saying since last season that KAT often hurts spacing as much as he helps, simply because he refuses to shoot as much as he should and he doesn’t like to spot up. He much prefers clogging the paint via drives or post ups on many possessions, so it is effectively like running a 90s offense with two bigs. The proof of this concept lies with how much better the spacing was when Naz was starting over him. This isn’t to say Randle provides a lot of space, but I don’t think they’ll be losing quite as much spacing from this trade as one would think. Especially considering that Divo will probably provide more spacing just on his own than KAT did because of his ability to move more off the ball.

  11. I love the non bias approach to this video. You pointed both of Flaws and Pros of each players. One thing I will be interested in is how the run the offense with Randle on the floor. He shot an amazing 50% on corner 3's last year. If Ant works on his PnR game this offseason and can use Rudy better to create space. Randle could have a lot of open corner 3's.

I am not a KAT fan and I think the biggest change will be the teams chemistry. Towns spend a lot of time falling to the floor try to draw fouls, complaining a lot and picking up the stupidest fouls. These things NEVER changed throughout his time here and can wear on a team and get old on your teammates. Plus send a bad message as a quote on quote "leader".

  12. Thank you for your thoughts, time will tell..
Whatever a million times a million is- I love this trade and Tim Connelly should be applauded – I firmly believe this is one of the best ever. Please take a moment to realize what we have, what we gained, and what the vision is..
Mike Conley Jr. .. my Dude .. drafted in 2007, he’s a leader, never caught a technical foul. NBA basketball is incredibly-competitive. He delivers, knows what he’s doing, a real competitor..
Anthony Edwards is the new face, nobody is even close..
We have Jaden McDaniels who is an athlete- worthy of paragraphs upon paragraphs regarding his potential. Anybody who jumps 14 feet in the air and wants to win is on the squad..
Naz Reid is the perfect Power Forward. Please watch his media day interview, he said he knows where the ball goes. Not sure how high he can jump- but it’s damn high. Winner..
Julius Randle is a very good basketball player. His fire, intensity, and ability to put the ball in the bucket are going to be on full display this year.. watch out.. yikes..
As for Donte DiVincenzo..this is where the trade went way way in Timberwolves favor. He's a winner who played with Steph Curry and almost certainly modeled his game after the guy: floor spacing, cutting, slashing, shooting 3s .. aight. Take a look at his resume, he wins championships.. Maybe it’s in the blue for some people, but seriously, at all levels this guy has won.. hmm..
Now, let’s talk about Joe Ingles.. I think he was brought in to be a brother, a mentor..
When Rudy Gobert is on the court it’s pretty tough for the other squad, glad he’s a Timberwolf..
    The draft was A+
Tim Connelly cookin’ .. pretty pretty good

  13. Big fan of KAT as a player and person, and will miss him. Also excited to upgrade our frontcourt athleticism with Randle and improve our shooting with Donte D

  14. You’re getting 40 points between them , both Dogs you will be so happy and a pick , I’m rooting for you now in the west

  15. Ant will have to change, adapt, and improve to make this work.

Luckily enough, he’s pretty damn good at that.

  16. Jayden and Naz will need to step up and fill a possible offensive deficit with KAT gone. Time for the young pups leave KAT's den and take their game to the next level. Damn is Dante such a great piece of the trade. This video was so good, you're already in peak mid-season form mate.

  17. I am glad KAT is gone. I won't miss his temper tantrums in 1st quarter from an offensive foul he definitely committed.
