[Katz] The Knicks have discovered a new loophole in the CBA. Teams in their situation cannot aggregate minimums anymore. So in the sign and trades of Jeffries, Brown and Washington, they are paying each of those guys just $1 above the minimum, league sources tell @TheAthletic

  1. I’m weak. I wonder if the league has any grounds to come down on them for this.

How many dudes next year will be making $1,157,15**4**

Game is game, new CBA is stupid anyway. For the Pacers at least, it essentially makes it that a core of Hali, Siakam, Turner, Nembhard, Mathurin, Nesmith, TJ, and Toppin unaffordable past this year. That’s a good core, maybe even a great one, but it isn’t good enough to result in frozen draft picks, rid the MLE, and pay $60M+ in taxes. We’ve already seen what it’s doing to some teams, there’s gotta be a better solution.

  4. Knicks playing StarCraft while the rest of the league is playing checkers

Arsene Wenger is proud of the Knicks for this.

The fact that the Knicks manage to stay below the second apron by under a million is genuinely insane shit

since the league reimburses teams for the cost of veteran (3+ years in the league) minimum contracts, I’m assuming that this extra $1 spent on Brown and Jeffries now don’t qualify to reimburse the Hornets for their costs?

Lmaooooo true gremlin behavior I love it

  9. Smart people will always figure out loopholes in the CBA.

note that this is only possible because they had rights to S&T those guys in the first place. If they didn’t have existing rights due to those players being their FAs, they couldn’t just sign 3 randos to $min+1 and trade them.

Am I the only one that understands NONE of this? Lol

Brock Aller definitely touches himself while he reads over the CBA looking for loopholes.

    A true cap nerd sicko

  13. nonufwiendz

Imagine if that puts them on a higher tax bracket lol

  14. Due_Connection179

The fact that no one saw this loophole in the new CBA is pretty funny.

I swear to God the league office is fucking stupid but good on the Knicks for taking advantage of the rules.

Y’all have seen Leon cook in the past, do we finally get him a EOTY award?

  19. Bro how couldn’t their agents use this for more leverage? At least squeeze an extra rack out for me. Y’all seen the price of food? Tf imma do with a dollar?

  20. Yes. Well, it’s interesting, sir. As stupid as they appear, they’re actually very good at paperwork. It’s quite an anomaly.

  21. We can’t let all of our attention be put on the dockworkers asking for 77% more when these men in NY are getting $1 above the minimum.
