I wonder who they have parsing all these data for them though and translating them into actual useful and actionable information? It’s not like the Lakers are known for a big analytics department full of MIT honor roll graduates.
It’s wonderful that we have a coach that (says he) is very receptive to analytics and plans to utilize it as part of his coaching program but I very much doubt he has the time to sift through all the data and construct the algorithms to output all of it into easily digestible and useful information himself.
I want to be optimistic but the Lakers have been very good at talking a big game ever since Pelinka took over Basketball Ops but it’s rarely translated into anything cutting edge or meaningfully advantageous compared to the rest of the league.

This means the Lakers have access to a wealth of proprietary data that others don’t. Keep that in mind before dismissing him based on stats from Twitter. His response to any stat-based critique could easily be, ‘We have data that says otherwise.’
But apparently this approach isn’t new, as JJ said, ‘Oh, I think *they* use Kinexon,’ implying the Lakers may have been utilizing it for some time. Kinexon is like an advanced airtag that uses ultra-wideband technology to relay super accurate real-time data down to the centimeter.
