Rick Fox and Doug Christie get into an altercation during a preseason game. Both get ejected and end up brawling in the tunnel. The entire Kings bench joins them resulting in an injured Shaq turning up out of nowhere to defend Rick. (2002)

Rick deserved that cheeky upppercut from Doug.

I don’t think we’ll ever see true dislike like this again. The spurs/okc teams possibly

  3. DJSTANKDADDY2

Rick Fox had one of the most punchable faces of all time.

  4. LadyMoonlightMuse

Shaq limping out of nowhere to save the day

  5. ittozziloP

Glad they went on to have a totally fair playoff series

  6. transizzle

I will always click on this, one of the few highlights for Kings fans

  7. Allgoochinthecooch

Shoutout Sacramento and nab hero Doug Christie. I think everybody wanted to see Rick fox get punched

  8. Oh_he_steal

Hearing Linda Cohn narrate a highlight warms my soul.

  9. I-Sell-Wolf-Tickets

I’ll never forget seeing Rick Fox in Oz

And Doug being roasted because of his controlling wife

    Fun times 😂

Remember when Shaq called them the Sacramento Queens and Jackson insulted the Sacremento fans and called them semi civilized and rednecks. No joke the Lakers Kings games were very fun to watch. so much f-ing drama. I love it. Especially because how some of those games were decided last minute.

Ah the Pepperdine goat Doug Christie. Good times

  12. histprofdave

They frequently play this clip at Kings games during the opening video that warns fans not to engage in physical altercations. The crowd usually cheers when Doug lands the uppercut.

  13. Judekabongo9

You don’t really see Fox in the tunnel being fought by Doug you only see Doug being held back

  14. This rivalry was so good because everyone involved in the years since have admitted it wasn’t just basketball, they legitimately hated one another back then.

  15. PARDON_howdoyoudo

The Lakers summoned Shaq, it was very effective

I miss this shit, I’m gonna start yelling at clouds but I don’t care. The game was better when players legit didn’t like each other and had real rivalries. Those Heat/Knicks playoff series were amazing and those two teams despising each other made for better games.

Fox was a scrub. It was home game for LA and when they both got ejected. Fox sprinted off the court and into the tunnels so that he could run to the side Christie was exiting on and jump him before he got too far.

I absolutely despise that lakers team more than any other professional sports team in history.

  20. IsSkipThere

Bro I hated Rick Fox almost as much as I hated Kobe when I was a kid lol

  21. james_randolph

Watching these two teams in the 2000-2003 years go at it was really really fun. Los Angeles and Portland games had some fire too.

  22. BrawndoCrave

Such simpler times. Watching ESPN highlights while eating my cereal before school.

  23. Intelligent_West7128

That Christie uppercut is “goated” as the kids say. Damn I miss real rivalries in sports.

  24. MarkMoneyj27

A shove or a punch from shaq has gotta be a life ending incident.

  25. Kings, especially now knowing the whole ref scandal, were absolutely right to hate the Lakers.

  26. JozzifDaBrozzif

See Clyde sweet feet Livingston wouldn’t have stood for that disrespect

  27. Grossly_over_ripened

Sportscenter used to be so awesome

  28. buffalucci

Rick Fox sucked at basketball AND acting.

  29. DanMoshpit69

Being a lifelong Kings fan and being there in person for 2 of the 7 games in the series the year before. This punch made my year. Still see custom shirts around sac of the uppercut connection to this day.

Lakers-Kings in the 2000s was the greatest NBA rivalry I ever watched. Those teams hated each other and the Kings pushed the best Lakers teams to the brink. Haven’t seen anything like it since.

  31. 3rdtryatremembering

Something about Vlade always made me feel like he low-key wanted to fight Shaq lol.

  32. roodootootootoo

I miss the days when our team was full of absolute dawgggs 🥲

  33. iamthecheesethatsbig

Y’all didn’t know Rick Fox was a thug

As a Chicago native (Bulls fan) living in Sacramento for a short time back then, that city really drips basketball lifestyle.

    Sacramento loves their Kings.

    That really impressed me.

    Good city, great fans.
