The New York Knicks continue to be active on the trade market before the season even begins. According to the latest reports, NY is currently showing significant interest in guard Marcus Smart, with the Memphis Grizzlies, Marcus Smart. NY has a number of guards already on the roster, so it does beg the question, why target Smart? Leon Rose and the Knicks may be using this report to put pressure on the REAL team they want to trade for. However, if NY did execute a trade for Smart, it would be one of the worst moves in franchise history… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

Get a center or nobody. We're set with guards/ wings. Deuce will be 15ppg, cam Payne is a pesky defender. Gotta develop Kolek, Shamet has had 30 pt games..Jericho Sims is gonna play this year,maybe Nnaji, and precious. Get a backup center or nothing.
I disagree Robinson does have trade value. Even with health issues a team can use his skill set .
The NY Knicks 🧡 don't need any more Guards. The Knicks need big Centers, mostly backup Centers to replace Mitchell Robinson.

We arlready have 3 point guards not named Duece. Why in the world would we need Marcus Smart, a starting PG, to be, at best, the back up PG and give up 2-3 pieces for that? This whole narrative doesn't pass the sniff test for me.
Marcus smart is needed why because that perimeter defense that Donte bought and he can shoot the three you think deuce McBride shoots better and plays better defense than Marcus smart no he doesn’t he will be a perfect fit now idk about trading Mitchell Robinson

Despite the injuries, there is nothing better out there than him. The grass may seem greener but it is not!
Don't overlook the rebounds, the rim protection, perimeter defense, the contract.
Don't forget the defense on Allen, or defense on Embied.
Last, don't forget what Capela did when he was not there!!

I am 76 y/o. I love this team, too. I am a Knicks fan since the '57-58 season and haven't loved a team this much since the championship years. Yeah, even more than the Patrick Ewing era (why couldn't they ever land a second superstar to take them to the top?) I hope we get that backup center. I'm sick of all this speculation.
Knicks need a center that can compete against against emboid,we should give up a player and two first for mich Robinson
McBride is a younger, healthier and better player than Smart at this point in their careers and still is improving. Including Deuce for a player whose shooting percentage is trash and only played 20 games last season would be moronic. Even just Mitch for Smart I don't love but could stomach. Rather trade Mitch for Murphy (won't happen) or Herb Jones. But we really don't need another guard and Deuce is on one of the best contracts in the NBA. We've made enough changes. Can we let this team play together first before more moves please.
