[Slater] Steve Kerr on the Kuminga, Draymond, TJD frontcourt pairing he’s starting today “Last year we weren’t comfortable going that route. We’d love to play Draymond at the 4. Trayce gives us a rim protector next to him. We want to play JK…Now’s the time to try.” (0:42)

That way people get off his back when they see how packed the paint is with this front court.

Sounds like Wiggins is the starting 3 when he’s back. Podz and JK off the bench

Just need to spam high PnR all game

For context when Steve says last year we didn’t feel comfortable going that route is professional way of saying Kuminga and TJD were the worst Net Rating duo on the team that played large minutes together. Hopefully they figure it out this year.

    I think

    Curry, Podz, Wiggins, Dray, TJD

    Or

    Curry, Melton, Kuminga, Draymond, TJD

Will be our starting lineup. Kuminga in theory should give us more hall handling than Wiggins but it just depends on his improvement.

Also spacing but we will see.

fuck it wiggins at the 2 so we have steph + a huge lineup lol

These three played just 18 minutes together on the court last season, and it was a disaster with a -16.9 net rating. The good news is, 18 minutes is an extremely small sample and they could easily figure it out and turn that around.

The other configuration of Wiggins-Draymond-TJD was the opposite with a net rating of +16.7 in 115 minutes. So I assume that will be the backup plan if this doesn’t work.

These games are actually incredibly important to build trust with Kerr

Kuminga, Dray, TJD need to prove that they can work because it’s our best chance at making some waves this year.

It unfortunately (or fortunately) starts tonight and I know everyone will say pre-season doesn’t mean anything and obviously it doesn’t in the grand scheme of individual player projections but these moments matter…

Important to show Kerr a glimpse of something that he can use going into the season.

    1 Curry
    2 Poz
    3 Kuminga
    4 Drey
    5 Jackson

    Bench
    Anderson, Hield, Looney

Steve was right. We don’t have enough floor spacing in this team to plat JK at the 3. It makes more sense for the team to have JK with the bench unit but he has to start because of his contract situation. Moody makes sense as the starting 2 with Wigs at the 3 and Dray TDJ/Looney front court

  11. He’s finally doing it…… HE’S FINALLY FUCKING DOING IT
