If you train to swish every shot does that improve your overall shooting? I mean I think the bank shot still has a purpose in the game. Man I just want it to get in the bucket that’s all I’m asking
Maybe I’m confused here, but how the hell did Simmons end up with +11. If you shot 3/10 you’d be at +1, and that’s assuming none of your makes are swishes. Obviously they are taking more than 10 free throws, but it seems like you’d have to shoot it really bad to end up with that score, in practice at that.

+11 is fucking insane considering you only need to hit a bare minimum of 33% to break even since backboard isn’t really a thing. He is so unbelievably cooked

This is why I never understand why people think “he just needs to shoot more.” I’ll criticize Ben for many things but one thing I would never clown him for is passing up a wide open jumper in-game. Because it is pretty much a turnover. He can’t shoot at all, never could.
He needs to practice shooting more of course, that’s a different story. But at this point his NBA career is cooked either way.

Based on the scoring system in the OP (if that’s how they’re actually doing it), that means anyone near zero is missing north of HALF their free throws in practice?? and Bogdanovic is barely hitting half despite being a career 86 FT% in game? Even guys like Shaq and Dwight whose FT forms were completely out of wack could hit 70-80% in practice consistently. Something ain’t right here.
People say don’t pick on Ben Simmons but honestly free throws is a thing that he could work on. There are high school kids with better free throw percentage. It’s not a talent or a physical issue. It’s just practice

This definitely needs a citation. I can’t find a source saying this other than one rando’s reply tweet, who admits that they are not in the building and so cannot know the actual scoring system.

-3 for a swish and -2 for hitting rim along with only +1 for missing, ending up with a positive tally while shooting at practice is crazy. You could be shooting 60% and clanking half your makes off the rim and you’d come out at a healthy negative.

Make is -3
Hitting rim adds 1 to get -2
Hitting glass adds 2 to get -1
So if you get a multi doink you end up positive? That’s the only way

Clax and Ben being that bad from the FT line makes them almost impossible to play together beyond the lack of spacing. And it makes them liabilities at the end of games. If you’re not a threat to score and you can’t make a FT, no matter what else you may bring on offense, you become a liability.
