His mobility is impressive on switches. With the conditioning he can get in the NBA I can see him dialing his weight in becoming stronger while possibly losing 5 to 10 lbs. He doesn't need to gain a single pound. If he just worked on his core he could be a taller version of Steven Adams.
I think Edey isn't going to make much of an impact. He's a defensive liability in today's league and he's simply not dominant enough on offense to offset that. Nobody wants to trade open 3 balls for contested Zach Edey post touches.
I like how people say he's slow on the run, slow-footed, but fail to understand that one Edey step is like 1.5-2 steps for most 6'2"-5" guy and his massive reach makes up for offense that gets past him. And he's a loooot better than the other number #9 picks over the last decade.
Every team that didn’t draft this dude earlier will regret it. 2x player of year, 7’5, but scouts want 19yr olds who are unproven and have more”upside”. The draft was weak this year and this dude will prove why NBA scouts kinda suck.
For a rookie big he looks really composed and far more mobile than I think a lot of folks were giving him credit for. Clearly the kid works hard on his game as you can see the improvements just from last season. Honestly, if he can stay healthy and off the injured list he could help the Grizz make some real noise this season.
He's a younger Stephen Adam's with Offense and Defense. Idk why everyone is so surprised. Why wouldn't u draft a player that has the size of ur former Starting Center but has Offense and Defense to add to the team.
All the footage of everything without the ball – rebounding, off ball screens, help defense, seals, etc are basically what Gobert is elite at but people never notice. Edey’s going to be a solid player because it looks like he can do all that (maybe not as elite as Gobert), but Edey has offensive skills Gobert doesn’t have.
