Wow, very good eye at 1:52 catching CP3 point to Julian with his thumb before setting the screen! I wouldn't have noticed that, but now that you mention it, the way that all of the Spurs seem to be camped out on a specific spot tells me they are running a play or are in a set with various options and Chris was just pointing out the best option. Wemby executed well and Champagnie keeps his hot hand going by draining it. The West is ferocious, and I doubt our Spurs could go past the first round, if that far, but should do much better than last season. At 7:05 you also pointed out the value of "two rim-running threats" in Wesley and Castle. I would LOVE to see these two get a lot of minutes on the floor together, even though they are both considered point guards. Stephon can play 1 through 3 so it really doesn't matter, and these two seem to have pretty good chemistry and make a killer defensive back court.
Spurs will be much better than expected. Book it!
Once we get a full game of Chris Paul + Tre Jones taking 90% of the PG minutes, the Spurs will be a problem for many teams.
The only Spurs addition that I am not 100% sure about is Barnes. I would have rather that they kept Barlow but we will see what he can add to the locker room, as his primary contribution will not be on the court. He looks like he can no longer move laterally very fluidly.
After a missed shot starting around 8:02 is the type of amazing "Pop's Patented Passing" sequence that echoes the Spurs' 2014 championship year. Gno' whut I'm sayin'?
P.S. Notice Wemby's hand signal to make a pass and his teammate's immediate pass which is then followed by one more pass and the great shot after a would-be challenged shot. It's pure perfection despite the partially defected CP pass mid play. CP does an amazing job trying to get the rebound and then hectoring the opposing player to come up with the steal.
The only thing that surpasses that play is Vernon's reaction in the lower right hand corner. SUBSCRIBED!
