Strong Defense Closes the Deal | Olympiacos – Zalgiris | BASKETBALL R2 Highlights 2024-25

Olympiacos Piraeus registered its first win of the season on Friday night as it defeated Zalgiris Kaunas 74-68 in a big defensive battle at Peace and Friendship Stadium. Heading into next week’s double-round, both teams hold a 1-1 record after two games.

The Reds had a dream start, especially on defense, as they allowed just seven points in the first 13 minutes of the game, but Zalgiris slowly found it footing. In the third quarter, the visitors finally cut the deficit to single digits, then used four fourth-quarter three-pointers to get within 67-65 in the penultimate minute. But Sasha Vezenkov took matters into his own hands, scoring an important basket, and Olympiacos prevailed. Vezenkov finished with a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double, and Evan Fournier had 15 points and 5 rebounds in the victory. Deividas Sirvydis netted 17 points, while Sylvain Francisco had 13 in defeat.

    Last night was one of the worst in European basketball history. Olympiakos earning 43 free throws to score just 74 points is beyond questionable. Ι worry that tactics like those used against CSKA back in 1995 could resurface. Other teams need to be on high alert regarding Olympiakos, given their deep ties to corruption in Greece.

    Same tactics in football for the red sisters for decades in Greece. It is the most hated club. Ask every fan from every greek team and they will tell you the same. Also the clown with the big ears caused trouble for no reason in the greek playoffs with Pao cause he is a sore loser. As a captain of the Greek national team the big ears(aka Fapanikolaou)did not even congratulate his teammates that played for Pao for the European title. Worst ethos for a captain in the history of basketball. Also if you think that this game is weird, you should see the 4th playoff game with Pao for the championship. Refs did everything they could so these clowns could win and still manage to lose.

    It’s enough for Oly to play one quarter seriously and the game is done. You can walk in the park rest of the game. Some stupid believe, that they reduced the lead because they worth something, when actually first quarter showed the real teams picture and the rest of the game for Oly was to wait for the game to be over with wasting less possible energy. Zalgiris coach i guess believes he did a good job😂

    Όλοι είδαμε σήμερα μια αισχρή διαιτησία και τα όσα λέει ο Trinkeri είναι για να θολώσει τα νερά. Bodiroga μπορούσες να φέρεις τον Dyfala κατευθείαν…είναι άλλο πράγμα να πεις ότι οι διαιτητές έκαναν πολλά λάθη εκατέρωθεν και είναι άλλο αυτό που συνέβη σήμερα. Ήθελε πολύ φαντασία για να δώσουν αυτά που έδωσαν εναντίον του Ολυμπιακού. Ο Wright τα έκανε τα φάουλ αλλά από τα 5 του Petrusev τα πιο πολλά ήταν στη φαντασία των διαιτητών. Ντροπή στην Ευρωλίγκα

    Refs seriously need to address the Vezenkov issue. It's only the start of the season and this guy has more free throws than whole teams. He exaggerates every play. He'll be flopping all season. Refs need to understand that and treat him accordingly.

    I wonder how many trolls does Poustis kai Prezakias pay to comment on Olympiacos videos in this way. Cheering for their team isn’t enough for them, they also want to discredit their opponent. Toxic.
