Dwight discussing the whole 2020 free agency fiasco with Jeanie on his podcast

[Howard] I was so shocked to hear the Lakers had an offer for me but my so called agent told me lies 😤 same agent that cost me $7mill man I’m glad me & Jeanie cleared that up
I know it’s too late but why not…

I’m in shape 🤷🏾‍♂️ my former teammate that I went to the finals with is the head coach 🤷🏾‍♂️ AD don’t want to play center no more 🤷🏾‍♂️ me & Jeanie cleared up all the confusion

  1. That’s insanely fucked. Bring him back to piss Joker off. Depends on what shape he’s in since he’s getting up there but who knows.

He was pretty cooked by 2021 tbh. He didn’t look good with the sixers after he left us and when he came back the year after that he looked even worse.

Somehow someone in this thread will find a way to hate Jeanie for this lol

Wish Dwight could’ve stayed, but let’s be real, he wasn’t going to stop the blowout against the Suns. Booker/CP3 would’ve targeted him on the high PnR like they did with every other center we had, and the Heat did the same thing in the bubble. We needed our team to hit some open shots

I think he will do good as a big body bruiser that doesn’t let anyone get easy buckets

Not expecting anything crazy but if he can handle some defense when AD is in foul trouble, why not?

  6. Always wondered why his agent did what he did. Now with the knowledge of his shady business dealings, maybe he just wanted Dwight to sign a contract asap for some immediate money? The Lakers offer would’ve always taken some time to get done.

    Yeah, fuck that agent.

Pelinka’s plan was obvious. There was some redundancy between Howard and McGee, and the former was more effective in the playoffs. Because the Lakers used the TPMLE, they needed to dump McGee’s salary to sign Gasol, a stretch big, in order to stay under the hard cap.

The Lakers may not have been in the Play-In that season if Howard didn’t leave. Imagine having a decent defensive big while AD rested early in the season. Sure, Howard fell off a cliff afterwards, but deal with that later. That 2020-2021 team was legit.

Dwight and Marc woulda been a solid center rotation. And the MLE we used on Harrell could’ve been used on someone else

I like the end of thr tweet. Hey just saying. You gotta respect him for still throwing it out there

I thought this was well known but glad they cleared it up in public at least, the Lakers wanted to have him back but had to clear up some things to sign Marc Gasol first. They had an offer for Dwight but he panicked and signed with the Sixers

Theres a lot of things to criticize the front office for but them “letting go” of Dwight isnt one of them

He woulda been solid even as a 3rd string big.
