All I know is those mitch highlights really show how good he is that block and recovery on maxey was insane. if we get mitch back healthy and keep in that way we can compete for a chip lol

Tyler Kolek IS a playmaker watch his senior year at Marquette the ball was literally involved on every play.. they didn't have a guy that would take it to the hole or a true score… HE was forced to do that his senior year but other than that he's is.. he makes everyone around him better which is what you want from a bench player..
But then Cameron Payne is gonna get less minute but he's gotta earn them over Kolek in my opinion but I feel NY is gonna make Kolek play a year in theG league which is reallllllly dumb
What makes you think Kolek is going to play when the season starts? You know Thibs does not roll like that. There was a reson he had a DNP tonight. Thibs is trying to get the rotation guys ready. That's where the minutes are going. I like the guy a lot but I think at best, he may start seeing the court some after the all star break. He would better serve the team if he spends some time in the G-league honing his defensive skills. We will get a better version of him in the end. In fact, the NYK will have quite the G-league team. Look forward to seeing that as well.
Cam Payne has surprised me
Thibs sticks to his 8 man rotation. We know our starting 5. Deuce, Cam and Precious being the first to come off the bench. If Thibs actually does go 9 deep this season then it would be Shamet as the fourth guy off the bench. Kolek will probably be sent to the G league to keep him warm. But there's no way he sees playing time with our roster unless in garbage time or someone gets hurt.

Apologize in advance for the long paragraph. Saying towns didn’t deliver in the post season last year is lazy. I’m going to put aside the mavs series because everyone played bad KAT included. Through the first two series KAT averaged 19 pts 9 rbs and 3 ast while guarding KD and Jokic in games 6 and 7. KD had a rough series with 2 games shooting under 45% which is way down from the regular season vs the Timberwolves when Jaden McDaniels (an elite defender) was guarding him. Jokic shot 47% and 0% from 3 in game 6 with 3 turnovers and only 2 asts and 46% and 20% from 3 with 3 turnovers and 7 asts in game 6 when being guarded primarily by KAT. This comes after he shot over 60% against the DPOTY who is also a 4x DPOTY the 3 games prior he also had 29 assists across those 3 games and only 7 turnovers total. Looking at the game 7 towns put up 23 points 12 rebounds 2 assists 2 steals and block on 57% shooting while limiting the 3 time MVP and FMVP the year prior. Compare that to ANT who people heaped praise on he scored 16 points on 25% shooting and was guarding role players in game 7. People criticize towns for taking a step back in scoring but that’s normal when he takes less shots because Ant takes around 20 shot attempts a game to KATs 14 in the postseason. His only postseason where you could remotely argue plays ran through him he averaged 22 points on 13 FGA… that was ANTs sophomore season and he averaged 25 points on 18 FGA. People argued KAT was the reason they lost that series, but the reality is that every post season the primary ball handler didn’t get KAT involved whether it was Butler who didn’t like towns or ANT who wanted the team to be his. The wolves also moved towns from his natural position to force Rudy to work and on top of that towns has never had a true point guard to set him up. His ballhandlers/point guards were Ricky Rubio who couldn’t score so people would double towns and he averaged 25 and 12 his sophomore season. Butler/teague who either hated him or just flat out could create for others. DLo who let’s face it is just inconsistent at best and isn’t a true point guard who creates for others. ANT who is statistically one of the worst guards at creating for others (I could go into a huge separate paragraph on this but he was statistically awful with turnovers and had an awful assist percentage for how high his usage rate is). Then finally he got Conley but he was 36 and ran into the issue above where ANT had a ridiculous usage rate and Conley rarely got to run the offense, but when him and towns shared the floor last season without ANT the offense ran way better than the 16th rank they finished with. This is the first time Towns will have a ball handler/point guard who knows how to run a pick and roll and has the willingness to run it. This isn’t to say towns is perfect, but the Timberwolves are an absolutely incompetent franchise at building around their stars. Knicks fans will easily get the best version of towns and that was already on display with the easy shots KAT and Brunson were creating for each other against the wizards. Yes it’s only preseason but that’s the greatest part is they had less than a month to practice and had a minimum of 4 pick and roll connections in less than 30 minutes of play. As a former life long Wolves fan knicks won that trade and I’ll look forward to seeing Towns play on a team that fits him and not just throwing guys together and forcing it to work.
If you gave me a choice between cam Payne and kolek. I’d choose kolek. Kid looks solid
