Anthony Edwards’ NEW Leadership Style

Anthony Edwards’ NEW Leadership Style

Gilbert Arenas and Kenyon Martin of the Gil’s Arena podcast argue about Anthony Edwards’ new leadership style in the NBA. He disagrees with Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant’s style of leadership. He doesn’t think you should be hard on everyone on the team. Sometimes you have to be gentle with the other NBA team players who will respond better to positive feedback. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards will enter a new era with his leadership. This sets off the Arena for an all-time argument.

Gil’s Arena every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET.

  1. Kenyon Martin is a idiot and Brandon Jennings ain’t far from it nba ain’t the army but I’ll say this in basic training everyone get treated the same but once they find out who the elite is and who can help them win the war that person is treated differently. You don’t talk to people all the same because in order for us to win you need everyone at their best sometimes that means yelling sometimes that means a hug but as a leader you find out what makes them tick and you wind them up.

  2. Kenyon is right and wrong. I was in the military. Some soldiers do get addressed differently. All that yelling and cursing will cause one soldier to straighten up get right. Another soldier may be like yea right. Gotta know your personnel.

  3. They both kinda right.. like u can’t do too much slap assssin but u can not reach everyone the same way either like some people don’t respond or learn the same way so u kinda gotta figure it out. You can talk to the group as a collective with tough love, but individually, u can cater to someone else’s needs

  4. Results matter. You can debate all day how kobe and jordan led there team but 6 and five it worked. Players who play great but have not won anything should close they mouth. Don't talk about, speculate about it, be about it than offer your opinion. Because that's all it is a opinion.

  5. One of the most common military proverbs is “we are only as strong as our weakest link” which is why they give everyone the same treatment to build that weak link and maximize their full potential. This is what kobe and MJ did. You can disagree with it all day, their results speak for themselves. Most of the people who don’t agree, have never reached those peaks or even came close.

  6. Well Jordan was absolutely A hole to his teammates. You dont call grown ass man A Ho. Now if he puts hands on M.J he's out of the league.

  7. Anthony Edwards is a Leo for a reason…lol…. He knows how to lead, plain and simply, he's naturally born at it!!

  8. Last time that i checked (nipsey voice) there’s was 5 or 6 rings attached to being an a**hole…k mart stay on point

  9. Kobe was not a great leader. If he was, they beat Boston in 08. Jordan wasn't a great leader either, the bulls did ok when he was gone & all his great leadership never even made the wiz competitive. Truly great leaders don't lead with fear or violence.

And it's funny that some are critical of Ant's approach, when that was Phil's approach. Phil would go hard on who he needed to go hard on & he would take a different approach when needed

  10. As a grown man you gotta learn to put your feelings aside and get on board. Especially when you are being paid to do a job

  11. Kobe and Jordan could be assholes because they had Phil to chill everyone out with meditation. Plus with MJ, Pippen was the one who was nice to the players. And it seems Derrick Fisher played the same role.

  12. Personally i believe the difference is Kobe and Jordan gave everything they had when they played, especially in the playoffs. Too many players take the alpha role today and back then tbh, but they don't give the same effort. Case in point, James harden in Houston. When did he ever show up in those series everyone swears they should/would have won?

  13. I really like Ant, But I lose respect for this dude. Every single time he opens up his mouth he needs to play basketball. Michael Jordan became Michael Jordan after he was considered one of the best players in the NBA. He didn't talk to his teammates like that his first 2-3 years in the league.
