The Klay Thompson Mavs Look TERRIFYING…

The Klay Thompson Mavs Look TERRIFYING…

One of the biggest stories of the offseason was the Dallas Mavericks, fresh off of a run to the NBA Finals, shuffling a lot of their roster around Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic – losing Derrick Jones, Tim Hardaway jr, and Josh Green to add Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, Spencer Dinwiddie, and most importantly… Klay Thompson.

After a few down years with the Warriors, Klay was ready for a fresh start and chose the Mavs over other possible contenders like the Lakers… and after 1 game that looks like the correct choice. There was a lot of skepticism around the Mavs offseason – questions about whether they actually got better or just moved some things around – and most of those questions revolved around Thompson – could he stay healthy, would his age become a problem, could he still guard… mostly… was Klay Thompson… still Klay Thompson.

Well it’s just 1 game, but he did EVERYTHING he could to answer those questions in Dallas.

  1. The Derrick Jones Glazing makes me laugh. The Mavs defense looked really good last night. Grimes and Naji more than make up for Jones. I’ll take Klay shooting over Jones any day of the week

  2. So this is the 15th NBA team that looks terrifying this year. Oh my God everyone is terrifying. I am so scared. At least the Mavs are not a problem for the NBA yet. I’m sure that’s the next video.

  3. Am I the only one who feels like Klay and Kyrie are going to average like 25-27 mins each, and allow for these other defensive guys to get minutes. Naji might avg 20 mins and Quitin Grimes and Maxi like 15mins. It works in a way because theres a lot of time for different lineups.

But also, I think moreso Klay playing under 30mins makes sense. He can get enough shots up in 25mins. And he doesnt get worn out in the regular season when theres depth.

  4. My god, why is DJJ such a factor for everyone.
He was one foot out of the NBA before Mavs signed him and he had the best season of his career because he was playing next to Luka and Kai and now all of a sudden every so called NBA yt creator is all high on him like losing him is some kind of big deal for the Mavs.
It was after PJ and Gafford joined that the Mavs defense started to show, not because DJJ is some kind of irreplaceable piece.

  5. How come every year at the beginning of the season people call the lakers “contenders” the very fact you just mentioned the lakers with “contenders” is laughably cringe.

  6. Why is no one talking about Lukas and kais defense lol. All that shit they talked about luka being a traffic cone he was locked in

  7. 22pts on two dribbles. Klassic Klay. His release is faster in slow motion than most in normal speed.

  8. Djj was replaced my Naji. Defense wash, but added play making.

Klay replaced THJ! That's both a defence and offense win.

  9. I think the biggest addition to the Mavs, and what is being overlooked, is the ball handling. Obviously Luka and Kyrie can handle the ball, but now they have Klay, Grimes, Marshal, Hardy and even Lively has improved his handles. I know it is just one game, but I see a lot more players who can dribble and pass the rock than last year!

  10. Mavs rusty shooting at first but they got it going in the end. Defense looks good but best outcome was Klay got a great start, got the shooting spirit back. All the struggles from preseason and last answered. What a relieve.

  11. If you listened to people like this and ESPN, you would think that Irving is the Mavs no.1 player.
They always mention Luka after Irving

  12. DJJ is good but not that good. Would i have wanted him to stay? Of course. But the defense changed when PJ Gaff and Lively played after the trade deadline. And really its not the D that Mavs are gonna miss from DJJ, as Naji and Grimes can replicate that. Its his lob threat on the break and even on a set play.
