Indiana Pacers defeat Boston Celtics: Mathurin ERUPTS off bench, Siakam CLOSES in OT

Alex Golden and Mike Facci recap the Pacers massive overtime victory over the Boston Celtics. Bennedict Mathurin erupted off the bench with 30 points and 11 rebounds, Siakam dropped 29 points, and the last 5 for the Pacers in OT to pull away from Boston. Myles Turner didn’t play, Nembhard was pulled after just 5-minutes (knee injury confirmed postgame by Carlisle), but the Pacers pulled a tough one out against the Boston Celtics, who were undefeated before tonight’s BIG game.

Big games from Isaiah Jackson and Obi Toppin, playing more minutes at the 5 with Myles out. McConnell had a nice bounce-back game after a 6-minute showing in Orlando. We also discuss Haliburton’s play, overcoming another poor shooting night, the idiotic comments made pregame on ESPN by HOT TAKE PERK aka Kendrick Perkins and MORE!

  1. I’m still concerned because Halliburton is still not playing well as he should. As much as I don’t like Perkins, he is right! Halliburton did not put up the work that he needed to do in the off season.

  2. Lets talk about injuries like all the other teams like talking about with us… No Turner, No Nembhard, No Wiseman…beat the champs…LFG Pacers!

  3. Celtics fan here I always watch u guys after we win I guess it’s only right I torture myself and watch after u guys win 😭

  4. That 4th quarter was giving me playoff ptsd!! But man, did they heal some trauma winning in overtime against the celtics? Feels like tom cruise in days of thunder coming out of the other end of the pile up. Lets go pacers!

  5. Enjoy it while you can once nembard back from injury mathurin will be back to 10-15 mins a night 💀

  6. This is what I'm talking about. TEAM REBOUND is important. This is the only game that the pacers won the rebounding department. More boards more win.

    Turner is a better back-up.

  7. As you read the stat “Mathurin only Pacer to score 30 pts 11 rebounds off the bench” i want you to realize its cause no other coach with sense would bring such a talented scorer off the bench. For Carlisle to keep bringing up Mathurin an SGs rebounding while never mentioning his starting center only averaging 5 rebounds is crazy. Ohh and Carlisle himself only averaged .8 rebounds. Start Mathurin and play Jarace.

  8. Facci. That was Toppin with the lazy inbound at the end (otherwise an excellent game). Nesmith had already fouled out, as in the Magic game. He is working incredibly hard on defense and, as in the Magic game, had some critical points when needed. Moreover, he has been practicing the dish with Siakam and orchestrated revenge against the ex-team Boston. Benn was perfectly rested for a breakthrough performance. Nice games all around. My question is, if Walker doesn't cut it on D, despite his length, does he need to be packaged with someone for a big?

  9. Nembhard is not hurt he has just been terrible. His along side Haliburton has always been bad. Mathurin has been so much better than last year with the mental part of the game. The issue has been once he made a mistake Rick would pull him. Tonight he was allowed to play through a few mistakes. Nembhard is a back up point guard and his lack of strength and size is bad next Haliburton.

  10. Nembhard and turner don’t play and we win the rebound battle. Jackson was possibly the better center in the post season. Turner has more offense but that’s it.

  11. Drop coverage is not defense, the pacers give up more open 3’s to the Celtics playing pitiful drop coverage. Turner is not a defender, he looks out of shape. He doesn’t move his feet well.

  12. 100% turner slows them down. Pacers are clearly àt their best when they play fast. Ijax can guard perimeter also becuase pf his elite athletecism. Obi and ijax together moves me.

  13. Perk is joke. worst takes consistently and that’s saying something on espn. tryna be a poor man’s Barkley and can’t even do that. did he ever look at his own stat sheet from his playing days? you’re not that guy, Perk. trust me

  14. All i gotta say to Rick AND The Organization is: DON'T LISTEN TO THE FANS. WE ARE FICKLE. DON'T BE LIKE THE COLTS. Y'all know EXACTLY what NEEDS to happen And HOW to get there.

  15. First d@mn time I've ever seen them truly come together.. and they finally played the lineup I've been wanting to see late. Mathurin, Obi, Jackson with Pascal. Have to have guy's that want it. Who go after a bucket to get a W. Pascal was actually shooting at will. Letting it go and not hesitant. Hopefully he can keep that up.
