  1. Haven't watched the video, haven't seen headlines. But if I had to guess, he wasn't bashing spurs. Simply stating that in basketball and to the league he was irrelevant. No recognition or anything

  2. NBA and commissioner hate the Spurs for resting their star players now the league has to deal with pre-Madonna‘s and they blame the spurs they told that to RC Buford at the meeting before the draft in not so many words In my opinion the spurs will always have a target on their back because of this and the media ignores them on purpose

  3. The real ironic thing here is, you’re listening to two players, who literally played almost their entire career while the spurs were dominating the NBA and they’re talking like were the Charlotte bobcats! And I’m sorry, but DeMar DeRozan has a lot of himself to blame for him, not feeling like he was a part of anything he just wasn’t that good. He was a little bit overrated, and everybody knew once he came to the Western Conference that he wasn’t going to have the same success he had in the lonely, eastern conference.

  4. Just curious, how come when Dejounte says he’s “free,” he’s a bad guy. But when Demar is saying he’s irrelevant bc he plays for the Spurs, we’re like, “eh ok?” I think there was too much hate for DJ and if people are hating on Demar, y’all need to chill it’s no biggie.

  5. The way the San Antonio Spurs culture is you’re able to act all high and mighty and drama free when you’re winning titles but once you aren’t the spurs just go into a black hole for players. Hopefully an exciting top 3 pick brings more fans. The bucks are a small market but they have an exciting player like Giannis so we just need someone to bring that for us.

  6. The media and casual fans gravitate towards the major cities teams and the teams with the most ‘exciting’ players. Or whatever team is consistently top 5-8 in their conference or top 10 in the league.

  7. First off, about San Antonio, it's the 7th largest city in the country. People saying that there's nothing in SA, are people that don't actually live here, and possibly have never visited. It's a common phrase when describing the city, that is in no way true. When basketball players state that there's nothing in SA, they're referring to nightlife such as clubs (dance/strip). While that in of itself is wrong, it's true when comparing that industry to other major cities.
(Fun Fact, San Antonio had one of the largest "Red Light" districts in the country, just behind Miami and NOLA, until Eisenhower shut it down because troops stationed in town were getting in too much trouble downtown. STD's, Illegal activities, soldier's even being mugged on the river.)

The site of the AT&T center was always a bad idea. They were hoping to force gentrification on the near east side, which is messed up to begin with. The site of the old HemisFair Arena was perfect. Downtown, on the river, next to La Villita. Spurs' ownership screwed up moving out of downtown.

As for DeMar, he gave credit to Pop for turning him into a complete player that is now thriving in Chicago. He would've had the same success here if he was in a better head space while he was with the team. That is what he was talking about with JJ Redick.

And the supposed beef between Redick and Spurs fans was about him saying that San Antonio was basketball purgatory for DeMar. He didn't mean that the Spurs or SA were purgatory, just that DeMar was in a purgatory like headspace.

  8. I think people misinterpreted because he was talking about himself and him in relation to the way media protracted him. I feel people don’t value the non major cities teams or teams without an ‘exciting player’ and just don’t pay attention unless you’re a hardcore fan.
