Steven Adams signs a 2-year, $25.2 million dollar extension
Memphis Grizzlies center Steven Adams has agreed on a two-year, $25.2 million contract extension, his agent Darren Matsubara of @wassbasketball tells ESPN. Adams — an immense culture piece for a young roster — is now tied to the Grizzlies for three years, $43.1 million.

He’ll make appox $7.5 million less per year on this extension then he will this year, and this should leave us with appox $32 million in cap space next year as of right now
This is super interesting. Good value imo, especially considering the rising cap and how good Steve-O’s been for us.
I will say that this may make it harder for us to swing a big trade this year since his $17m isn’t an expiring deal anymore. We could still trade him obviously, and holding onto him is more than fine, but it’s maybe a sign that we just don’t see a big piece shaking loose soon.
Edit: It also gives us $14m more cap room next offseason since this new deal replaces his massive cap hold. Something else to consider!
