Okay now he’s got 4 more years to make us a contender

  2. Substantial_Affect75

What has he done to get this extra job security? He has to have something on Jeanie at this point

  3. Harleytk24

Glad everyone appears to be on the same page

  4. Why? What has he done to deserve an extension?

  5. Management and coaching being aligned is a great step in the right direction after Vogel last year.

  6. HydroThermia

So far the Ham hire looks good so let’s hope the regular season ends up good or maybe we make a good trade

  7. KaseyOfTheWoods

    Twitter responses are brutal lol.

I was under the assumption he’d be here at least through the end of AD’s contract, so whatever

  8. This team doesn’t care about being competitive at all.

  9. PiresTheKing

IMO not a genius but also not the scrub that some make of him. Had 2 solid years (with a championship) and 1 terrible year. Ok move I guess

  10. After horrendous two years, of course he gets an extension. This franchise doesn’t make any sense.

  11. Brussell0605

He should be, brought us AD and LeBron and a Title 🤷‍♂️

  12. CCPalmeri5

Would’ve liked to see this season play out before extending him.

  13. Flashy_Decision_1674

Bro blew up a championship roster and then made the lakers the laughing stock of the league. Congrats Robert 👍

  14. Qwerty1879

Can everyone get their heads out of their asses? Y’all act like the man didn’t make a championship squad 3 seasons ago and I would even say made a championship squad as well 2 seasons ago

  15. Outside of Russ (which has player pressure to trade for him) hasn’t he done a decent job?

  16. Bad_doode

No way in hell should he have gotten an extension after the Westbrook trade, it’s the absolute worst trade in franchise history.

  17. StoneColdAM

Rob is okay, but there needs to be another executive with more of a strategic mindset. Rob has some skills with his agent experience, but his weak spots are related to asset management. Need someone else to fill in the gaps.

Friends & family organization! Power of love and friendship will help us through the dark times!

  19. KingsCrossings

JFC Jeanie is an idiot. At least let him GM for his job this year

  20. isit65outsideor

Further confirms that the Lakers will not be blowing up their roster and that includes their picks. Rob wants flexibility, he’s going into next summer with five picks to trade.

People really let 2021-2022 get them down. He put together great squads in 2021 and 2020. 2021 health was really the problem but there was an overall positive reaction to his moves.

Rob does have that stigma of his former agent days, however, I think the work he’s done overall and obviously the championship warrant this extension. I also think with Coach Ham on his contract, we will see great high effort basketball from the Lakers under Ham/Rob for the next few years.

  22. I feel like anyone with an overly positive/negative reaction to this needs a break from sports. We’re gonna ride out the Lebron/AD thing until 2025ish anyway.

  23. KoryGrayson

Jeanie is a ride or die for Rob! For Lakers fans sake, I hope it’s ride.

  24. TorontoRaptors34

They should fire Rob and hire someone who has a brain and isn’t shady.

  25. Hot_Mathematician357

Jeanie Buss needs to hire a legit front office or sell the team to someone who will.

  26. Yomminator

He’s done jack shit to deserve it. AD trade was a no brainer and he doesn’t get credit for that

  27. ForeverDenGal

Rob is indecisive. He helped build a great team in 2020. Then decided to knock it down and continue to let players leave the lakers and then sign them back the next year after he realizes it was a mistake, then by the time they’re back they aren’t the same player.

  28. MediumBaller_

hey big fuckers, you guys are bitching because last season rotted your brains but LITERALLY 1 year ago we were lamenting that AD got hurt in the playoffs against Phoenix because the 2021 roster would have won the finals. ONE YEAR AGO. last year was horse shit but to spend this time changing history is asinine mane. I *barely* even like pelinka but Jesus Christ man let’s actually THINK about what this exact group of people was saying barelyba calendar year ago

  29. You guys need to start looking at Pelinka for what he is. As a GM, he isn’t a guy with team building knowledge/skills. He doesn’t know how to assemble the exact right role players to maximize a team. Our data science staff on the Lakers is literally 1 person.

What Pelinka is good at is getting deals done. He did it as a player agent and he did it with the Lakers. Everyone’s in his ear (including players) on who to pursue, and when he has his target he makes 10 different contingency plans at every FA and trade deadline and relentlessly pursues those players. He got AD and he got Dennis and Montrezl Harrell (6moty and runner up 6moty), Kendrick Nunn and Malik Monk. He’s been navigating these potential Hield-Turner and Kyrie trade talks as good any owner could ask. These are the positives. He also traded for Russ and offered Dennis Schroder way too much money at the end of 2021 that DS thankfully turned down. These were terrible team-building moves.

I think it’s 100% fair to criticize him for his bad team building skills and his inability to push back on people who are in his ear. But I also think this being the Lakers and a hot destination that will always build through free agency, having a guy like Rob who’s as psychotic and obsessive as him to get deals done is a great fit. What we need is team-building minds in the FO that can tell him who to get.

  30. ThaTruthKills

Not surprised. Jeanie and her nepotism control the organization.

  31. chugalaefoo

Outside of the huuuuge Westbrick blunder that many people here were against since day 1, he hasn’t done a horrible job with what he’s been given.

  32. DrinkWaterTodaypls

I honestly don’t mind it. Trading for Russ was the main mistake he made but he still gave us a championship roster 2 years in a row even tho Bron and AD got hurt the year after
