    Building a contender takes time, skill and luck. It takes time to develop your core and role players/to trade for the right players and pieces on your roster, and luck to avoid injuries or an unfavorable matchup on your run. I get people weren’t happy after the loss against the Rockets but it’s the preseason. Wait and see how the team does in its first 10 games before drawing any conclusions.

    The jays were never considered a contender. With that said, baseball is way more random than basketball. It’s the only sport where any team can legitimately win it all once the playoffs start.
