It feels like every NBA player wants to own a team, the truth is the average person is closer to them in wealth than they are to a billionaire… and it’s not even close .

Is that Orlando then?

San Antonio? New Jersey? New Orleans? What is home for Shaq?

Shaq would be a horrible owner

All of these players who want to get into ownership missed the boat. the timberwolves will be the last team that goes for less then 2 billion heck most will go for over 3 billion and 4 billion with the new tv deal going forward. The cost has gotten way to high. They can obviously get into small minority ownership roles but if they actually want to run a team none of them including lebron can afford it anymore.

all players required to get treatment off company time, even if injured on company time.

Maybe this is the wrong place to say it, but I can’t shake the feeling that the players buying into teams right now (LeBron and Shaq? Wade a little while ago?) are gonna see the valuation bubble blow in their face.
I got a gut feeling that they are buying right into the top, for it’s hard for me to believe that while every other asset bubble bursts (stock, real state, art…) the valuation of NBA teams will keep on growing.
But who knows, they are uber-millionaires anyway.

Bring the Nets home to New Jersey baby

Shaq buys the Vegas Expansion team
Front office “where were you during the game???”

I will take anyone over the Scamway operating DeVos family. At least an ownership group with Shaq as the face could potentially lead to a more player friendly environment.

He’s been saying he wants to buy the Magic for a bit now. Don’t hate, but I got this gut feeling hat he wouldn’t be too good of an owner.

The lack of math skills here is surprising.
Shaq is not nearly wealthy enough to buy an NBA team. He’s worth ~400m which is at least two billion and probably closer to three billion short of the purchase price.
He can probably own a La Liga soccer team with a net worth of 400m. But the fans would hate him for not being rich enough.

Shaq please buy the knicks!!! We need someone to turn this organization around look at what has happened in Charlotte! We love you and we need a basketball mind in office ❤️❤️❤️

Come home Shaq ❤️

If Shaq bought an NBA team, it’d probably be the new league favorite.

Shaq had a minority stake in the Kings, if I recall, but sold it to go into a sports betting venture. He could’ve leveraged his stake to get a bigger stake somewhere else if he wanted.
