That said, Grant being part of the NBPA, he’s likely fully aware of the financial changes coming to the NBA and understands what his value is going to be in the future. Might mean he’s asking for way more than we should give at this point, but is also more in line with what his value would be in year 2/3 of that contract extension. The good news is that he’ll be an RFA regardless and we can match any offer if it’s reasonable for us.
White for Crowder? I love Crowder, but I don’t necessarily like this move.

Grant Williams had one solid season and needs to prove it wasn’t just a career year. If he regresses a bit we should still sign him but don’t break the bank. Ultimately he’s a replaceable cog.

I wonder what Grant’s number is for an extension because I’d have to imagine that if he wanted $15-16 mill a year he would’ve gotten it by now, so is he aiming for more around $20 mill a year?
As for White for Crowder, I don’t like it. With Brogdon, Smart and Brown’s injury histories it’s good to have a lot of guard depth on this team. Not to mention that White is signed for 3 years vs Crowder at just 1 year.

I think grant is a role player and we are too high on him as Celtics fans. I’d resign him for the right value but that is tbd. He was great in the Milwaukee series and non existent in the finals. Let’s see how he plays this year. If he takes a huge leap than we have big Al off the books to match.
