The Bucks need to start getting Brook Lopez the ball more in the post when there’s a mismatch

Countless times throughout the season and postseason, smalls constantly get switch onto Lopez and he just hovers around the three point line. Even in the game today, Royce O’Neale, Cam Thomas, and even Kyrie Irving were switched onto Lopez numerous times and he wasn’t even a thought of an option. We all know Lopez has nice touch around the rim, so with coach Bud not putting Lopez in that position, he isn’t fully utilizing Lopez effectively to unlock the offense’s full potential.

Like on this [play](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxjUKL-TJTrbQzMb99w_GCtDYvwXBq4mex), even though Jrue made the shot, Cam Thomas, who’s 6’4”, is guarding Lopez while he’s just parked in the corner. Why not just get the ball to Lopez on the block and have him be apart of the offense?

Or on the [play](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxoMP8N_wf_o8y4T5bgHaXmP99eJLy0YSo), why are the Bucks clearing the side and getting Jrue the post up and not Lopez?

I know these are clips from todays preseason game, but this has been a constant theme for most of Lopez’s tenure here. Is this a fair criticism of the offense?

  1. Lopez also needs to actually back guys down instead of doing fade aways when he has a mis match

We have all been saying this for years. At least part of the reason is brook just isn’t that good of a post player anymore. But they do need to at least try it more to maybe punish teams for going small, which they will do every time brook is on the court.
