[Canis Hoopus] Andrew Wiggins just signed a four-year, $109 million dollar extension with the Warriors. Question #1: would you sign D’Angelo Russell to the exact same deal right now? Question #2: If the Timberwolves did offer that, would Russell say yes?

Thought this might be an interesting discussion

Wiggins is a better player so i would offer him less.

  2. DLo isn’t get close to 27M a year on the open market.

You’re just signing up for an untradeable contract.

4 years 85mil or 3 year 70mil, give him a player option on the final year if he wants it.

Hell no I would not want DLo getting that much here. Not unless he plays really well this year, he has a lot to prove

DLo actually signed a contract that was worth $117 million over four years with the Warriors in 2019. Just after his All-Star season with Nets. If DLo plays well during the 82-game season and changes the narrative about him not being a postseason performer by putting together an excellent playoff run this upcoming season, he just might get another contract close to the one that he got from the Warriors. That is the one big thing that DLo hasn’t done yet, play well in the postseason. Hopefully, third time is the charm. 💰💰💰

If we paid DLO 27 million I wouldn’t be upset, but I think given what he’d get on the open market we can get him cheaper

I’d probably put D’lo in the same tier as Jalen Brunson who just got $105/4. Brunson was a better player last year only because shooting efficiency, but D’lo is by far a better playmaker. If D’lo can get his shooting numbers up this year, I think he’ll undoubtedly get $100+ on the open market

No I wouldn’t offer him that. I’d do 100-105. He just needs to stay healthy

Dlo yet to prove himself in the post season, unlike Poole, Herro, and Wiggins. However, I see him getting similar money on the open market. Will see how it goes, we have Nowell and Dlo on expiring deals, both of them might get an extension before Tuesday.

Possibly! Let’s see how this season plays out but DLo will get to his spots all night with gobert. He looked like the only comfortable player vs the clippers

I think everyone’s missing the point of the tweet. He’s saying the Wolves lost that trade, badly. The Warriors ended up with a draft pick they are high on and a guy they feel comfortable giving a $100 million extension to and we ended up with a guy who were not even sure should be part of our long term future.
