Warriors extending Poole, Wiggins was no-brainer, but the Draymond Green decision next summer won’t be so easy

  1. If he picks up the option another team is going to enjoy trading for a great defender who is proven in the playoffs.

Klay was maybe a bit smarter, definitely a lot luckier with his contract timing.

Kawakami, who is Lacob’s mouthpiece, is heavily implying Draymond night even get traded before the summer.

The problem is it be very difficult to trade such a toxic player with specific team building requirements being paid 25 million (or 27 after opting in). Trade exception is the best choice. Otherwise we may even need to attach a pick (or a solid young player) for teams to take him.

Another way is to offer him a very low extension next summer. Just high enough to tempt him to stay longer and earn slowly. 14 mill for 3 years or something, which imo is still too much and restricts our ability to extend younger guys.

    Poole: $140M

    Wiggins: $109M

    Green: Sorry bro

  4. So just with Curry, Klay, Poole, and Wiggins, the Warriors will be at $150.7M while the salary cap is estimated to be at $134M and the tax at $162M.

Draymond opting in brings it to $178.3M.

The Warriors could legitimately have like a $500M bill next season between salaries and tax payments.

  5. Everyone saying Draymond cuz just go, doesn’t understand the fact that if Dray leaves, the defense drops off of a cliff. And you can all but forget about being a title favorite.

  6. Sure it is

There is no salary cap anymore they can just offer him whatever they’d like or he can walk

It’s crazy how Warriors fans have turned on Draymond, this man helped in creating the dynasty and winning those rings, and now looking at warrior comments is disgraceful.

I’m in the camp that unless Wiseman makes a massive leap, you trade him to keep dray.

  9. PointGosh

Fuck it they should just extend him too. Just so this sub could cry about it more.

Draymond Green, probably the most unique forward in the modern game, the guy who still has the best two man net rating w/Steph Curry of any of the teammates Curry has played with, yes, even KD.

He is a defensive savant, has come up with game winning stops more than once, is one of the best facilitating forwards in the league, has tons of heart and always gets up for big games, is a part of the original big 3 championship core and y’all think the team is just itching to get rid of him?

Y’all are either dumb or just really praying on the Warrior’s downfall.

  11. Blade3rd

Nahhh he’s retiring a warrior. He was a massive part in building this thing up from the ground. Yes, he is in decline, but he is still so integral to our offense and defense. He has perfect chemistry with Steph.

Klay has like 2 years left on his max deal. My guess is he’s either gone in FA after that last year or he’ll re-sign for significantly less money. This all depends on his health and production, but that’s most likely where they will save some money at along with letting Draymond go. Klay and Draymond have to be the sacrifice in order for guys like Wiseman and Kuminga to get extensions and still pay Wiggins, Poole and Steph.

He should go to a young team who needs a defender. At 10 mil a year and a $5 million dollar bonus to keep his hands to himself. He’d be successful.

Make peace with the fact that our defense WILL suffer tons without him unless everyone takes a big leap. Also will need a passing big who can screen well. Not ultra likely.

I’ve made peace with this because if the future stars of our franchise don’t trust him/can’t play well with him for an extended time, and the goal is championships…something’s gotta give. Before the punch, I really thought Wiggins was odd one out despite Dray really only getting worse now. Afterwards — particularly continuing to attribute blame to the FO for KD and then the punch — I think it’s clear he’s out. Unless they repeat.

Still will be a retired jersey, HOFer and of course we don’t win any of the 4 without him but everything has an expiration date. Is what it is.

Damn this just feels like a punch to the face 🤛

  16. HonorRoll

Let’s pay a 32 year old who gets a triple single every game 100M 🥸

  17. Scary_Vanilla2932

Why? Draymond and Klay already got their thank you for a championship contracts. Now it’s take a paycut and retire a Warrior time or fuck off.

  18. Probably for the best let him be a Tyson Chandler on another team .

  19. Treehouse326

It is for me and I’m a Dubs fan, let him walk.
