Steph, Klay and Draymond know each other’s tendencies in their sleep. Losing Draymond would be devastating for Steph.

But it’s not for Steph to say “you have to pay him X dollars” I’d say if anything Steph better consider putting him on retainer and paying Dray on the side if it’s so important to him cuz the math is the math and old men get old and youngsters get better. Steph has some pull. Nobody has 150M extra in luxury tax in perpetuity pull.

No matter how much pull Steph has. Nobody has the pull to make Bob pay 150M in luxury tax for a guy we hope Wiseman and Kuminga are flat-out better than two years from now. Arrows point up and arrows point down… Dray is in the arrow down portion of his career and still vety good but the likelihood of a steep decline is so high you just can’t give him big money. If you decide to make bad decisions on Dray… Wiseman or Kuminga will be an All-star on the Magic four years from now and you’ll be left wondering how the hell it happened.

Remember Ben Wallace declined so fast… if you keep Dray for four more you risk seeingthat. It happens fast to undersized bigs… same as hyper athletic guards. One year Iverson was an All-NBA next thing you know Pistons Nuggets outta the league. They drew the line. Dray may opt in but they ain’t paying him to sit behind Wiseman and Kuminga in 2026.

Surprised that KD is over klay despite way fewer games together

Steph will 100% want Dray to stay, and he’ll more than likely let that be known to the front office, but we’ll wait and see, I’m not going to think about if he leaves or not let’s just win another championship.

It’s kinda cray that at that point KD is third even only just playing 3 seasons with us

How about denominated by minutes on court together?

I wonder if Klay and Curry would be willing to take slight paycuts to help keep Draymond. Neither of them have big egos. And Klay was making that salary while hurt and not playing for a couple of years. Even a small paycut would save massive amounts of luxury tax.

Steph will play the PR game either way. However, if Looney and the young’ns make strides this year, it’s a different story. If that happens, I believe he’ll realize we have just as much of a chance at more rings even if Dray were to leave or be traded.

  9. I’m interested to see how the younger players progress this year. They could ease the passing of Green

I’m shocked that Klay has passed 129 times
