  1. Thunder might be the “ poster boy “ for tanking because of their fast turnaround from competing to tanking and no one acquired that many picks in a short timespan but all the tanking teams did that tho. I guess being the first makes you the most hated

  2. I think because of all the young guys and the quick turn around of the roster does make it feel like the tanking has been going on way longer than it has. Plus even if Chet was healthy this team would still have been tanking

  3. i actually like how presti started this era of rebuilding and how to do it, lowkey tho okc injury reports by the end of the year are just nuts LOL kinda crazy got a bunch of 10 day contract guys but i dont mind that cus why not improve ur draft position if ur not in the playoff or play-in race anyways, id rather tank than be mid, as a magic fan i was tired of watching mid lmao, id rather we be bad then try and rly rebuild this from the ground up (we can possibly push for a play-in spot if everything goes well) which would be amazing for a young team like us

  4. As a thunder fan thank God Shai is willing to go through the rebuild and not request a trade like other young stars

  5. Another benefit, is that they are getting games and confidence into youngsters, – a group of talented youngsters who are building chemistry fast (which makes for fabulous games to watch, even whilst losing – subconsciously, for the fans watching, they know that they're 'winning'). 😄🤙

  6. What most American commentators generally focus on, is purely winning the chip. Anything less, is a target for entitled abject criticism (ludicrous, there are 29 teams each year trying to beat the ultimate champ to the punch; it ain't easy. These fans should be pleased and impressed by their team JUST to make finals). Whilst that is the ultimate goal for a franchise, it is not the main goal. Its main goal is to mint coin (sell tickets, sell shirts, build hope and belief, &c.). OKC's product, is SWEET – this is a franchise that knows how to go about it. OKC is the best merchant in the states. Wealth, wealth, wealth…

  7. Great video as always. I think the main point is that OKC made draft picks become more valuable than ever (as they got them all for themselves) and of course the other teams fans aren't that happy with that…

By the way, congrats on getting a new sponsor, I'm happy to see your channel growing!

  8. three cone, you inspire me to END the SGA2TOR propaganda… but im only one man, i cannot stop this train!!

  9. I would love if you made a video about the whole 2020 Thunder season

  10. I wish the national media would listen to you because they pushed the wrong narrative all the time

  11. Contrary to this take which is predicated on the assumption that tanking is a valid, legal and widely accepted strategy that every sensible team should use, it is controversial and illegal in certain incarnations (eg match fixing). This is why Cuban was fined 600k for saying openly that losing was the Mavs best option. It is gaming the system, akin to foul baiting, and is contrary to the purpose of any sport as well as poisonous to a team’s competitive spirit and culture; imo it is part of the reason Philly has not and will not win a chip in the near future. The Thunder are not the first or last team to tank, merely the most egregious, so it is entirely unsurprising that fans don’t like it. Personally I do not care but I am confident that this strategy will bear fruit, though perhaps not the fruit OKC is expecting.

  12. Yeah I agree but the blatant tanking makes the thunder unwatchable and made me stop being a fan of the thunder.

Seems like a developmental team. Similar to the reason I don't watch baseball. My team never has any chance of making the playoffs so there's no point in watching

  13. Tanking being an "absolute necessity" for teams sounds true on paper, but not really in practice. Tell me when the last time a team won a title that could be directly tied to a multi year commitment to purposely losing games? And how long can players/fans really be expected to buy into the long term plan that prosperity MIGHT come eventually?

Also not really true is the idea you need to have the first pick or even a top 3-5 pick to ensure you get that franchise changing player. Consider who you have as the top ten or so players in the league, then go look at where they were taken in the draft. Also look at the last decade or so of guys taken in the top 5 who even made it to a second contract with the team that picked them.

Just in the last few years, see the Raptors and the Bucks for title winners who are not big market teams and did not spend years purposely losing to build their roster. Heck how many players who got regular minutes on either team were even lottery picks much less a 1-5 pick? These teams found success by investing in scouting and player development instead of going the easy route of punting season after season in the hopes they stumble into their next franchise player in the draft,

The last issue with tanking is that its entirely based on what could maybe happen possibly in years down the road. If there was any sort of consistent history of wasting season after season to secure a high pick that led to a title or titles I might be more on board with it, but there just isn't.

  14. Cone you’re the man I’ve seen your channel blow up and it’s beautiful!

  15. Good logic and explanations. Sam’s vision is multidimensional, looking at many angles such as wrapping up kids for 9 years rather than going through a bunch of contracts.

But the key part is almost every player is young, lengthy with handles, can go end-to-end and collapse with that length to prevent drives and uncontested threes. There is true synergy but especially when Chet is in play. He is the perfect piece to tie it all together

  16. Pleaseeee i love the thunders 2020 season run i like in oklahoma rn tbh i need to go to a game i just graduated and got money andnive never been

  17. SGA is great player and his drive to the basket is phenomenal! He dont get enough love because he is on losing team. But SGA should have been all-star last two years if he didnt get injured. Not sure this is year for Thunders? maybe in few years as team is sooooo young. Potential is there as long as new players start to jive. Poku is starting to find his rhythm. Will play great role player next to SGA and Giddey. I'm excited for this young crew. Dont trade, dont change. start building and get in sync.
