  1. Dude we need solid players. I Don t think we can get anything worth a top five defensive center.
Why Don t you care about the analytics? You seem to put so much faith in your eye test. You believe some weird idea, like star players need to have iso skills, when the best iso team in the league just fired their coach BC they are terrible. The nets have 2 of the best Iso players in the world and it does Not work. Iso play doesn't make you a good player. Most stars get points on the flow of an offense. Bradley Beal gets a lot of points off, off ball action. Picks and back picks and screen and roll.
Have you ever seen a start iso his way to a title. Lebron James doesn't iso but scores within the offense. Stop making it a knock on keldon and devin. Scoring in the motion offense is what manu and tony did their whole careers. Are they not as good as carmelo anthony who had iso plays called for him. Tim scored on pick n pop or pick n roll after the offense changed from 4 down to motion.

  2. Its a tough situation. Jakob is the best Spurs center I can remember that is not named Robinson or Duncan.. and I would be totally fine in paying him more.. but he wants money that would make him our biggest salary (thanks to our team friendly contracts)

on the other hand.. we have to spend that money somwehere. Devin wont get paid the big bucks until 2024/25, Sochan in '27, Keldon is on a team friendly contract until '28, Doug is getting traded.. and Free Agency in '23 isnt that amazing for us. A shitload of older All Star players in their last good years, which doesnt fit our timeline and thats pretty much it.

D'Angelo Russell might be interesting to look at. He's not playing very good and he might be interested in a 2 year contract, be able to run this teams offense since we're not very heavy on PGs.. so he can show the world he's worth more money in his prime years, when he's 28.

But yeah, Im fine with either decision on Jakob. I think its a win-win for us.

  3. Ironically, we are having players injured, but managed to win some games.
In this early phase of the league, the obstacle for the Spurs in th Wembanyama Sweepstakes is the other teams that losing to the Spurs.

But I do think it will change as time goes and the others teams getting a hold of themselves. Spurs are not playing to lose, so other teams must play hard to defeat the Spurs. Or maybe, we can trade our way up to the 1st draft pick.

  4. I think the Spurs are going to over value Jaks trade value. The way he's playing…the Spurs are probably going to want 2 or 3 unprotected 1st round picks. I will believe it when I see it.
Imo it's too late to tank….unless "load" and "roster" management come into play.
Then Silver is gonna side eye 👀 them.😁

  5. Please Spurs management, don't mess up with the chemistry of this team.
They're doing great and blending well.together.
Any new experiments like we had in the past can be costly in this season, when this team is playing better than all expectations so far.

  6. Long story short – yes, he should traded by the Spurs. Spurs should trade Poeltl because 1) he seems to be non-committal on re-signing with the Spurs and the Spurs can just draft and develop a center in 2023 or 2024 with the great player development program that they have, and 2) trading Poeltl would help the Spurs maximize their odds at landing a top 2 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, and both Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson are excellent fits with Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell, who currently are the two most important players on the Spurs to form an excellent and championship-worthy 23 and under core in San Antonio in the future.

  7. If the Spurs receive a quality offer for Jak, they will trade him. But if they don't, I doubt they would have a problem with letting him play out his contract and see what happens in FA. He could still end up coming back, especially if the Spurs continue to win with him.

At a minimum the Spurs want 2-First round picks, but would they be willing to take on a young player in a deal? Coby White or Grant Williams, maybe?

  8. I can believe a person who’s in the mental health field believes that quitting is a best option. Tank for what when was the last time that it work. Decades ago; you willing to waste every other player talent and opportunity to get better as individual and as a team for a lucky shot. Do you know how demoralizing this mentality is for a person. Anyone who wants us to tank doesn’t have the best interest for the team or players. All you want is a participation trophy. To be honest it disgust me to thing anyone you call themselves a fan. You are the reason the world is upside down no one wants to fight and sweat for glory all you want is a handout. I want to be the best we can be every year eventually team basketball will get you a win.

  9. It be the decent/right move… b bummed out but understand he wants his bag .. good luck Jacob

  10. What nobody ever considers: “What if the Spurs trade Jacob, and then don’t win the lottery for Wembenyamba?” Then, what do they do at center? You have no center but Collins, who isn’t even as good as Jacob.

I now believe you keep Poeltl because of how quickly Sochan is coming along and believe Sochan may become a superstar himself. He plays well next to Jacob, and I believe Poeltl would sign back with us for 14 million a year, even though he could probably get more somewhere else

  11. I love Poeltl but he should be traded. His contract is perfect for a team making a run. But they better get an unprotected 1st rounder.

  12. yeah, Tank baby! We will NOT be winning the same way without Jak. He has found his fit so well, he is a huge part of our defense and even offense with screens and pick/roll usage. His value is PEAK right now, just like DJ's was for us.

  13. Clan, you wrong. He's in his prime and worth every penny. He fills in the paint, assists the ball, and knows the O and D schemes.

  14. I know you a fan but you seriously underrate Jakob. You think consistent defense, screens, and contest grow on trees? There are only a few big men I think worth tons of money these days. Embid and Jokic, maybe Kat. Jakob goes then the true tank will begin because we not replacing him with better. Now if he simply wants big time money, then that is another situation.
