Steve Nash firing won't fix Kyrie & Nets, Warriors lose third straight, 76ers back? | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf reacts to the Brooklyn Nets firing head coach Steve Nash, and explains why it is on Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, not a new coach, to turn things around. Would it be a mistake for Brooklyn to add more chaos to the locker room by adding the Celtics’ Ime Udoka? He next discusses Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors third straight loss, this time at the hands of Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat. What does the future look like for Golden State’s young players? Lastly, Jason answers if Joel Embiid, James Harden, and the Philadelphia 76ers are back on track after three straight wins.

  1. Question Jason:

    Is Kevin Durant really salvageable?

It seems that he carries and wallows in his own brand of toxicity…

    Your thoughts….

  2. I don't mind Doc being replaced by my 76ers as long as we don't get Mike D'antoni 😌 We need a coach to get on those boys. Give Cassell a chance!!!

  3. As always the warriors analysis is spot on. How are the Warriors going to develop the young guys (or even see what they have) without giving them longer runs? Essentially the second unit might as well be OKC with the amount of experience they have. Kind of wish the whole crew could be designated to Santa Cruz to just get game time in together.

  4. I think the players just stopped responding to nash not to say he was the only issue but if I don’t respect your abilities it won’t help. In the long run let’s say you blow it up you now have a a nice young core a respectable established coach and he gets to create his own culture there

  5. At no point did steve nash seem like the right coach and not once did they show any level that the Frank Vogel coached championship team did. And people were questioning nash because the only button he could push as coach was playing kd 48 minutes a game

  6. I still think the lakers situation is different from Brooklyn like the lakers won a championship in there time with lebron an AD Brooklyn hasn't even been out the second round including being swept in the second round

  7. Why do they play play jerome i feel like only tjing he has is energy. Id way rather see kuminga or baldwin??

  8. This is turning into Fox and ESPN. Only talks about 4 teams and the same topics. I guess the bigger you get, the more revenue you chase.

  9. I would have never taken a coaching job with a team whose star players said they didn't need a coach. You are walking into a complete dumpster fire as far as culture goes. Not saying Steve doesn't deserve his portion of the blame, but he was set up to fail from the jump. We have all seen top 10 or top 20 rules to success, and on every list being coachable is always a rule.

  10. Warriors to me seem all over the place. In the week ago loss to the Suns the whole team including first unit was minus points. In the loss to Charlotte, the first unit was a collective minus while Poole plus 2 in 37 mins(as second unit leader). In the loss to the Heat there was a second unit failure with Poole minus 23 in 30 mins and J. Green minus 22 in 20 mins. But, the Detroit game was the first unit minus across the board. So, I really don't see it as a second unit failure. The stats don't support that conclusion. What they do support is the conclusion that the team is not playing good team defense, and they lack consistency. I think they will get there though as these early season games are where these things are worked out. —- Separate note: PLEASE cover why the Bucks are winning.

  11. As a Warriors fan, I'm going to leave Wiseman alone. He's learning. He's not the reason we went for 15 points in the 4th quarter… JP was horrendous, 5TO and 9 points, -23 on +/-, trying to jack up 3s and over-dribble, carry, etc. He needs to humble himself and trusts the system. Kerr hasn't found the perfect line up yet. It's okay, trial and errors. I like Wise with Curry and Green.

  12. I think when Klay and Drays minutes restrictions are lifted the lineups will be figured out. It is still early and I have faith they’ll figure it out

  13. Yes I do think we have a Wiseman problem. But it's our offense we be having 2 to 3 minutes of no scoring and it destroys our lead. Plus Klay has been god awful at shooting. He is singlehandedly shooting out the game. Sometimes we need a bucket he just comes down and shot the worst possible shot.

  14. Love your analysis dude! As a basketball fan I’m trying to raise my understanding of the game. Any chance you can include an example play to emphasize your breakdowns?

  15. Sorry, but Boston would’ve regretted replacing jaylen for Durant. Some people act like Durant is a number 1 but he’s not klay, and curry more specifically, were the players who create the Harrison Barnes looks for Durant. And Durant is invisibly obviously worlds better than Barnes

  16. Warriors started are always going to play their best because they're humble enough to do it. The 2nd string or bench led by Poole are a total bust because of Poole's lack of defense presence and awareness, Moody and Kuminga and Wiseman are still learning and growing, and they do need to stagger their lineup when subbing out the starters. Poole doesn't help the team well at all. Wiseman just need to learn to screen and rebound better. Moody will end up surpassing Poole this year as he play more just like Kuminga will get better.

  17. If I was them I’d look to a team like Toronto and offer a package of moody and wiseman and a 1st for og and Gary Trent that’d make them crazy good

  18. its a start. Kyrie is and easy target these days for anyone who want to score a few cheap shot, BUT anyone who knows basketball could see that Nash was in over his head regarding coaching. Nash lost the players especially the 2 players that matters.

  19. I'm not sure if I am the only one hearing it but I hear a loud static noise every few minutes. It is not too bad when listening with speakers at work but I sometimes listen to you with airpods while working out and it hurts when it happens with airpods on. Can you check your audio or rewatch this video and see if you hear it? you can hear one at 4:13

  20. Not a kyrie problem at all…. people like you just need to stop talking about anything off court. Theres a society problem with people caring about and getting up in arms over shit that has nothing to do with them

  21. The analysis on Nets are wrong as I expected! How about stop focusing on what Kyrie is doing off the court and focus on basketball analysis. It obvious the media has something against this young man; always picking apart his posts and beliefs… focus on basketball and bring back real journalism!

  22. Is wisemen a bust for a number 2 pick.. He is a big and I have no doubt he could become a rotation piece with more time but is he a bust in context as a number 2 pick

  23. 2 things: I was watching the Club ShayShay episode with Dwight Howard.. Dwight is completely right on why the warriors need him.. he’s still a great screener, can provide physicality down low and a good leader assessing what Wisemen needs to be him

2ndThe warriors aren’t necessarily in panic mode because the only preseason contender in the west thats playing well is the suns.. so I think the bench has till the trade deadline to make decisions… kuminga unfortunately may be the first one out.. Wiseman has shown already with 30+ minutes he could average close to a double double and what he isn’t good at defense is something that only time and experience can fix.. I think Steve needs to start him and give him more minutes to get a chance to actually develop and draymond can scream at him for mistakes
