He has zero trade value. You gotta attach what, 2 first round picks to him to get rid of him?

  2. mMounirM

Lakers could use him. helps out their 3pt shooting

This experiment is cooked, just blow it up already. That said I don’t think the Nets are completely fucked going into the rebuild. Marks is a solid GM that has shown an ability to rebuild a team from nothing fairly well. If they can get a somewhat decent return for KD, a young player and picks for example, I think they’ll be alright

What does Salvage the season even mean at this point? I would be looking to salvage the franchise.

EDIT: The upcoming seasons is what I mean.

  5. jtotheh123

Feels like there’s a much higher chance ben becomes like 80% of what he was in Philly than the nets getting anything positive back for him, no point in selling low

  6. supermegabussin

What are they possibly expecting to get for him? Like he’s untradeable rn

  7. Outland3r_

You’re gonna have to throw in KD to get rid of Ben

  8. SomeGuyNamedJohn12

He has zero trade value. Not only has he not looked good at all, but now he’s coming off a Knee injury after just having Back surgery. Meaning it might take even longer for him to get to his normal self than before.

  9. klobucharzard

sending you malachi flynn and thad young

  10. Professional-Mess101

Don’t trade him for 10% of his value

Just keep him and hope his trade value increases

or he retires and the contract gets off your sheet

He doesn’t even look at the basket when he’s on offense unless he’s 3 ft away. A dream come true for defenders who can just sit and clog up the lane and it plays out like a 4 vs 5. Idc how good his defense is, if they can’t get him to at least look at the basket and take an occasional midrange there’s no way he’s helping any team be better.

After all, who has a better story than Ben the Broken

  13. CounterInsanity

I have a hard time picturing what a trade for him even looks like. Ben’s value is the lowest it’s ever been. Net’s would have to add picks for someone to take him. He’s making $35m this year, $38m next year, and then $40m on his last year of the contract.

It would have to be a rebuilding team that want’s to tank and fill out the necessary league minimum team salary. The Nets would also still want something of value in return that the rebuilding team would be willing to give up. So what team even fits that?

  14. Echoplanar_Reticulum

more like salvage his job than salvage the season.

  15. dangheckinpupperino

There’s no way he can be traded.

  16. MediocreTake

How would you get any return on a player you’d be admitting contributes way less than his contract is worth?

  17. SlothDogBeaver

Throw in three first-round picks and some pick swaps with Simmons and I might consider it.

  18. tayroarsmash

Imagine being on a team with an antisemite and your name pops up in trade talks.

I remember at last year’s trade deadline people (and not just reddit nephews but lots of media people too) were talking about how the Nets were the perfect fit for Simmons and that he’s surely found the best possible landing spot to revive his career. There were lots of feel good stories on how the Nets were not going be as mean to him, that all he needed to do was play great defense, distribute the ball, and don’t have to shoot. That he’d be surrounded by the shooters he didn’t have in Philly.

Well, it turns out not being able to shoot is a problem no matter where you play.

  20. Ninneveh

Simmons intentionally sinking his value per Klutch Sports instructions to help the Lakers get the more optimal trade.

  21. Jmills14

Only team that should take him is the Spurs… he’s a Pop type of player. Does all the little things right, plays defense & moves the ball around. (Most importantly he can hide in SA).

Simmons + Wemby/Scoot in San Antonio could be promising.

Also Poetl & J Rich address a lot of the needs that the Nets have.

  22. MuhammedJahleen

The nets shoulda just traded harden for a shit ton of role players and picks

  23. spidersilva09

Might as well shop KD while you’re at it. Selling Simmons low right now amid a ton of team controversy doesn’t sound like the best use of resources. Unless they are just sitting him to preserve what little value he does have, why would a team trade valuable assets for an injured player with a diminishing game? Floating his name into rumors with a low likelihood of having success of trading is gonna do wonders for their locker room!

Edit: a Western team reported to be interested in Simmons for a veteran 3pt shooter. Could it be Beasley from the Jazz?

  24. claimsman11

Myles Turner, Daniel Theis, and a lottery protected first

  25. RacinGracey

Hey my rec team will trade for him. We have a guy who wears a MJ jersey every pick up game we will trade in return.

Seriously, if his body wasn’t as frail as mine (my knees also hurt after running the ball up), I think he would be a perfect bench Bull. His giving up 40 to Giannis would save Vuc and Drummond from being banged around.

  26. Nets are 3 point dogs to the Wizards tonight. The Washington Wizards.

There is no “salvaging” this season.

  27. pattyswag21

Don’t they need defense and rebounding he can do all that must be something else going on

  28. MildlyPaleMango

lmao the nets had a better team with Dlo , spencer and Allen
