he tanked his value so bad, the one team that did want him are no longer interested

That thumbnail of him is exactly how I feel about this situation

  2. xpillindaass

nets had the chance to trade kd and trade kyrie for 2 frps in the summer and they said na we good 🤣

  3. leopardinatree

For now, sure, but talent always wins out in the end. Someone will take a 30ppg scoring guard in the dead center of his prime even if it’s just to put people in seats.

Even if you don’t care about the anti-Semitism (which obviously you should), you don’t know if he’s going to play or not, and you don’t know what drama he’ll bring. He’s also not a top 15 player, so he’s not even close to being worth the potential headaches.

The sheer amount of relentless speculative coverage of the Lakers is staggering.

They are like the 13th or 14th ranked team in the West, with a roster that has a median age of 32, with the worst offensive performance not just of this season but of the decade.

They have genuinely way less roster flexibility than even an average team in their position would, because of their financial commitment to Russ. And all the picks they have already traded. So even the raw materials with which to construct speculative trades are as barren as possible.

And yet. Because it is the Lakers, the deluge of speculation will continue.

Since this will probably be asked in this thread: Amick yes, Amico no

Only thing the Lakers are doing right this season.

  8. Who knew that anti-Semitism might be bad for a locker room? /s

  9. retroracer33

aint no way bron oks that at this point. he’s not gonna risk his brand caping for kyrie.

  10. BismackMyBiyombo

Lebron really gonna spend his final years on a lottery team lmao.

  11. bautistar1

Kyrie is going to retire. Hes about to be the face of the big3.

  12. urfaselol

did the mods really ban the word kyrie in any posts

  13. angel2timez

Kevin Porter Jr. Was traded for a top 55 protected pick. I would imagine kyrie going anywhere would be a similar situation as the risk is so high

  14. heshouldgo

What I’ve been saying, no way they go after him anytime soon

  15. sarpnasty

It went from “There’s no way the Nets are stupid enough to do a 1 for 1 Russ and Kyrie swap” to “there’s no way the Lakers are stupid enough to do a 1 for 1 Russ and Kyrie swap” in less that a month.

  16. AnotherStatsGuy

As they should. I know the original plan was to bring him in with cap space, but at this point, the Lakers should pivot and just start using the cap space and either follow the Marks style (taking on bad contracts on picks) or the Rose style (sign a bunch of mid-level “Prove it” guys to flip to contenders.)

It’s like when Paulie gives Henry money in goodfellas and then was like I gotta turn my back on you.

I think if he truly is on the trading block, some team should take a chance on Kyrie. He has apologized and will definitely apologize even more and the media will forget about this story pretty quickly imo.

Kyrie is still a 25ppg guy, can’t defend much, but he can still score at will and is worth it for a lot of teams. Not sure why the Nets even want to trade him at such a low value.

  19. WhatTheRickIsDoin

If the Nets end up releasing him, Rob is going to have an internal meltdown about what to do

  20. Rainliberty

If I were the Nets or any prospective team this year, I would just eliminate his media obligations all together and request the team not answer any questions related to him either. Just hoop and go home. Hell, I bet KD would opt into that agreement as well.

  21. MakurMaker_KDplusKG

Marbury 2.0 he’ll be out of the league soon enough

  22. BBQCHICKENALERT

This sounds like the type of Shit you release on purpose to try to get a better deal on the trade

  23. marathonwater

Man fuck alllllll that. Just don’t pay him if he doesn’t play and no media obligations in his contract lol

Sign me tf up. Kyrie can shoot and take over a game. We can play more defenders, etc.

  24. Hashirammed

If I’m the Lakers, I see how this season plays out and if it continues to go south I trade LeBron and AD for as much as I could get. Time to go into rebuild mode rather than suffer with this horrendously built team.

  25. Kyrie is a massive upgrade from Westbrook on offense

  26. IllustriousKoala3303

AD probably is still rusty. He was out for a while..he also looks out of shape.

    Nunn/Bev should be flipped.

WB should stay 6 man, resign for 3 year 35.

Then invest in g league pool.

  27. Fun-Package-4593

They have some time, i think they see what the trade market looks like in a month or two, there is going to be more weird things that come up around the league, more disgruntled stars, etc that there lakers can lure someone.

  28. Chickenmangoboom

Why would Tsai trade now? It seems like he would sign a guy that eats babies on the bench if he played defense and could put up 20 pts a night on decent splits.

  29. Mygaffer

It’s funny to me that you still see Lakers fans who really want him on the roster.

Like… after everything you think this guy is going to put the Lakers over the top?

  30. Whit3boy316

PR hit would be huge and win % uptick would be marginally better?

  31. therealponcedeleon

At any price? Cmon that’s silly

  32. Ear_Enthusiast

I mean, what the fuck happens if you trade for Kyrie? You run the risk of him showing up and only playing a third of the games while alienating his teammates and coaches and saying dumb controversial shit because it’s the cool thing to do. Then at the end of the year he’ll just ghost the team like he did in Boston. Fuck that guy. I’m pretty sure he’s more interested in becoming a social media personality than an NBA basketball player. Kyrie is full on radioactive right now. He and Antonio Brown are about to be teammates.

  33. bthemonarch

I’m not an GM, but if was, the only reason I would bring in Kyrie is to tank

  34. Cat_Mysterious

His availability in a deep playoff run is something that’s been a big question mark just on physical health alone. Ignoring headlines of the last two years just on court he is prone to breaking just one of those guys not built for 82 plus post season
