RECAP: Hornets lose winnable game to Wizards due to shooting woes & late game decisions



The Charlotte Hornets are in a 5 game losing streak after dropping a very winnable game to a Wizards team on the second night of a back to back without Bradley Beal. It’s easy to blame the injuries to LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward but the issues run deeper than that.

    This team is horrible!!!! Terrible drafting, FA signing and bad HC hires!!!! Melo shouldn’t come back to this crap until he feels 110% healthy

    Fire Kupchak and Clifford and push the red button…keep the young players except bouknight and trade the others

    The team was constructed for James Borrego who said the best two shots in the NBA are a layup and a 3 point shot. The team has scorers not shooters which is why other teams seem to shoot better than the Hornets. Borrego valued the 3 point shot too much and that why you see the tendency of this team to jack up a 3 pointer rather that a higher percentage shot or getting fouled on drives to the basket. Don't think Clifford shares this philosophy particularly how missed 3 pointers adversely affects rebounding and transition defense. Don't think the roster is currently constructed for complimentary basketball leading to too much dribbling and one on one offense and turnovers. Still think Clifford needs to shorten the leash on Bouknight.

    This is the moment in the 4th, in the last TWO games, putting back in the 'starting five' when they haven't really been a great cohesive five, and expecting them to take the game home. You always dance with the ones who brought you to the party. That's a rookie coaching error. And Clifford should know better. So WHY is he sitting the hot hands/group in substitution for the starting five ??! I smell MITCH behind the scenes.

    When Clifford subbed Richards out for Plumlee against the Nets up 12. It was obvious this team is tanking. Lamelo would have to have the worst sprained ankle in human existence to not have played 6 games ago

    The hornets are not a good roster. League has always been a make or miss league, not a lot to cry about.
