[Deb] NEW: In sit down, Adam Silver discusses Kyrie Irving. Says Irving isn’t antisemitic and that the criticism for the league’s delay in disciplining him “may be fair.” Also says, the Nets and league are working w/ Irving on “what remediation is appropriate.”

While Silver agrees that Kyrie’s statements were damaging he insists he has “no doubt” that Kyrie is not antisemitic and appears to agree that the Nets’ terms to return to the court were excessive, echoing LeBron’s tweet earlier today.

Once I learned the documentary is 3 hours long, I knew Kyrie probably didn’t even watch it:

He’s just too stubborn to admit he didn’t watch it.

Edit: *3 hours,* not 2. He definitely didn’t watch lol

    Silver: Are you antisemitic?
Kyrie: I don’t even know what that means
    Silver: Perfect

My take on this is that the owners/adam silver are not invested enough into this for the bad publicity. They want this to go away. They told him its time to shut the fuck up and cut the shit, we dont want the headache, and maybe he will play ball(quite literally), for now.

    soft as fuck

    “republicans watch NBA too”

  5. WNBAYoungGirl

I’ll give until Kyrie’s next post-game interview where he says something to contradict this

Jaylen, Bron and Silver have been at the forefront of the Kyrie apology tour. This won’t be the last of him in the NBA.

  7. ThatEmploy2804

Let’s hear it from him directly, this time without the “I know who I really am so I can’t antisemitic” BS

How could he be anti-semitic if he knows where he comes from?

  12. slippythehogmanjenky

Silver: “He’s someone I’ve known for a decade, and I’ve never heard an antisemitic word from him or, frankly, hate directed at any group”

Okay, like, you didn’t *hear* it…but you read it right? Lol

It is ridiculous the amount of mental gymnastic the league is willing to do to keep you in the league if youre a great player.

  14. Adam Silver said this after meeting:

“I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul; a man deeply committed to the Torah and the best interests of the Jewish people”

    Guys, Kyrie isn’t antisemitic.

He just still believes a NWO conspiracy theory rooted in antisemitism and said “I know who I am” in his latest apology for perpetuating views that black people are the true Israelites.

If I was sarver no way I would sell now. Just say I know I say the n word but I’m not racist. The precedent has been set

    This situation is so weird.

So the league forced Tsai’s hand by dictating the terms for Kyrie to play again, now they’re going to make the Nets back down in order to prevent a mutiny from the players before contract negotiations.

  19. CaptinOlonA

Not a good look for the league, Adam Silver is making a mistake by not coming down hard on some clearly racist behavior.

  20. “not antisemetic, hella stupid though” – silver, probably

    Mealy mouthed crap.

Pick a lane, hold this moron accountable, move on.

Never watched the NBA until this year. As a 36 year old man, I watched my first game on Oct 12 (obviously preseason). After hearing this response, as a Jew, I will never watch another NBA game in my life as long as these people are in the league.

  23. RogueModron

I hate these litmus tests of whether someone is or is not “really” racist.

Do racist things, support racist causes = racist. I don’t care if you’re not firebombing the synagogue, u racis

  24. Soji_Juice

Wild. Hopefully the Nets continue to demand that public apology from him.

  25. Wjourney

The Silver lining with this whole situation is a lot of people are getting educated on what antisemitism is.

He should forced to do a one hour long matzo ball soup mukbang

You know if you showed someone some of the comments from this sub without any context or what Kyrie posted, they’d think Kyrie posted a swastika
