No LeBron James on Friday, but as Darvin Ham noted, this was a very winnable game, anyway. Well, that didn’t stop the Lakers from losing! 120-114 was the final against Sacramento. The Lakers fall now to 2-10, and with Brooklyn coming to town on Sunday and LeBron potentially missing another game, the team is running out of time to right the ship and play their way back into the Western Conference playoff race. (Seems crazy to say that 12 games into the season, but they’re 2-10, so it’s not really crazy at all.)
Anthony Davis wasn’t a factor in the fourth, but was it his fault? Sacramento overloaded hard on Davis, sending two or three defenders at the slightest hint he’d catch the ball, and the Lakers simply had no counter. Meanwhile, DeAaron Fox went off for the Kings, having his way against multiple Lakers defenders and picking up critical buckets down the stretch.
The Lakers closed the first half horribly, then blew a lead late in the second. This one, LeBron or not, needed to be in the win column. Arguably the worst loss of the season, and there already are 10 to choose from.

70% of Ad's shots were assisted in New Orleans. He is not a good iso player. He doesn't have a perimeter game. He's a good lob finisher and offensive rebounder. He does the dirty things well. Not true number 1 option things. Someone else has to create the advantage for Ad to score. De'Aaron Fox can dribble the ball up the court and score himself aka "pass the ball to himself". Ad can't do that. Even in the championship season the Lakers always had this problem of constantly trying to post Ad up and being confused why it didn't work. He's not Lebron. You can't just give him the ball and he makes magic happen.

To be fair to AD in this game, he was swarmed all over in the fourth quarter being double teamed and triple teamed. Our problem is that we don't have a sharp shooter or two to kick out to when it's time to take advantage of mismatches in other areas.
Unfortunately, the scouting report for playing the Lakers is so simple that even we could coach the opposition to a 'w'. Retreat into the paint to a man. Back-off from anyone outside the arc and beg them to shoot. With our lack of three point shooting and inability to gather rebounds, you're going to be hitting the Lakers on the break more often than not.
When you've got the ball as the opposition, just take care of it. Avoid turning the ball over to the Lakers and there's no way they can break you down in the half court with any consistency.
Pack the paint and don't turn the ball over, that's got to be one of the simplest scouting reports in modern NBA history.
No shooting, no rebounding, no half-court offense and the defence is too inconsistent to compensate for the offensive deficiencies over the course of 48 minutes.
