Even more sad is that red team had parents that were lawyers go after St. Anthony becuase it was illegal to play him in that private school league and just kill everyone. Second is they kept saying he looks 25 and they needed a birth certificate. It got so bad that the host family just sent him to Kentucky.
He's a total team player. Sean Elliot during broadcast, mentioned couple times that he was open for a shot, that he knows he can shoot but still preferred to pass. He just plays hard both ends of the court and this will eventually reward him with a longer contract once Jakob will be eventually be traded.

Clan, my brother, they’re just calling him the next Shaq bc shaq was the last big man to come out of a HS in San Antonio. Shaq went to Cole HS in SA. That’s who they’re alluding to in the beginning when they mention a 4 time nba champ.
So St. Anthony got sanctions against them and left their district because of Charles Bassey. The TAPPS ruled him ineligible and he continued to play the season. Politics really, recruiting and so on. He loves the city and will be a great Spur

I know Charles personally when he first attended HS in 2016. When I Saw the kid play in his first tourney/game at SAISD I knew he was gonna be special. I instantly said “this kids gonna get drafted by the Spurs I can already see it” didn’t get the draft part right but man am I happy he’s back home. Such an amazing kid a humble man and a great family friend/brother. We love you CB

This is a great share, and I love hearing Bassey’s story. Lagos is rough man… I knew we got a steal with him, but after learning all of this…this dude is Spurs DNA to the core. He is exactly the type of player we thrive with – team ball, humble, “over himself” as Pop says. And he can shoot. I hope he gets minutes this year. Don’t wanna see a Jock Landale repeat…(which was a big mistake)
He said “without my team, I get no attention.” He really fits and well, this attention he’s getting really speaks volumes to what he can bring to the team. Love this guy! 💪
Bassey coming to the Spurs is some storybook type stuff. He came from Lagos to St Anthonys in San Antonio, and now he is back. Spurs are where he belongs, and I think dude will put in the work 🦾 his numbers are already impressive. Luv this pick up for us. I’m Bassey bandwagon all the way.

St. Anthony’s is a private school that plays mediocre level talent.
Nobody ever actually believed he’d be the next Shaq, but the local television guy doing the story often exaggerates and name drops. Shaq just happens to play in this area in high school. And also not against the toughest competition. But Shaq destroyed his competition.
