  2. Brad-Stevens

Al saw JT last night and said “Yeah we about to three peat”

    LFGGGGGG

  3. chickspeak

Nice, Papa Horford will have three rings on his fingers at 39

Dad isn’t gonna leave us for the crackhead den this time, bois

New age Tim Duncan let’s go!!!

Random thought because this is similar money to what the Celtics gave Tristan Thompson a couple years ago, how old do you think Al will be before he’s worse at basketball than 29 year old TT? 50?

  7. Daddy stays a while longer

    Brad routine W early am.

  8. VortexCow

3 championships before he retires sounds nice

  9. A question: does this change anything relating to Grant getting a new deal? Does this shift money to him from Horford going forward?

Awesome contract too. Was hoping he’d stick around. Many on this sub thought we’d ship him off before his contract finished, what a key piece for us at a bargain. Time to get my Horford jersey

Brad saw Udonis play last night and said, “yeah, let’s just keep Al for a little longer”

So we got about $160m on the books next season. Probably $175m after Grant gets re-signed. Tax is gonna get really big in the upcoming years so it might be a good idea to stop trading away 1st rounders so we could get some more cheap talent. Still looking for that long term Al replacement

Gotta keep Playoff Al, baby! 💪🏻💪🏻

  14. bugeyes10

It’s like Brad was born for this job. Great deal and glad Al is back.

Hell yeah! So happy we got him signed to an extension.

I remember back in 2015-16 I went to the Celtics-Hawks game in Atlanta, and if you remember we tried to trade for Big Al at the deadline that year and it fell through. I was talking to my dad about it during the game, and Hawks fans behind me overheard it and said Al was never leaving the Hawks. I told them if the Celtics want him, he is going to come to our team over them because Boston is just better than Atlanta and cares more about basketball. He did join our team, and has become a Celtic for life and an essential part of so many teams. I wonder what those guys are thinking now 😂

  17. I’m honestly fine with this. He has been killing it in that starting role and will be amazing off the bench when we get Rob back.

Al gets 10 million. PJ Tucker gets 10 million. Now compare the two

the many great games and seasons, the inside job on philly, the amazing playoff moments last playoffs, and now this contract basically ensuring he will retire a celtic ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 42💚

  20. The Celtics signed Al Horford to an extension before the Red Sox brought back Xander or Raffy

This is why the Celtics are contenders while the Red Sox suck and will continue to suck

  21. Ok_Acanthaceae6057

Gone from sitting out game because of age to signing an extension through till he’s 39

  22. KhakiDockerman

Man, I was inspired the other night to hit the Pro Shop and buy a Horford jersey thinking that even if this is his last year, he’s a Celtic worth representing even after he’s gone. Glad I don’t have to face that for another couple years.

This is the type of morning coffee I like to sip on 🐸☕️

  24. This is good news and this is a good place to note what a turning point in franchise history the original Horford signing was.

Before Horford, the most significant free agent the Celtics ever signed was 5’11” Boston native Dana Barros in 1995. Even throughout the Pierce and Big 3 years, it was accepted as fact that no quality free agent would ever look at the Celtics.

Ainge selling Horford on Boston completely changed that narrative and set the stage for a lot of the dominoes that fell since then. Hayward, Kyrie, Kemba, even though they didn’t all work out as well, they kept the Celtics at top of mind as a destination for players who wanted to go to a winning organization. Horford has a lot to do with that.

  25. CoffinDancr

That puts him here for 7 years. If we win a title, he’s getting his number retired, right?

  26. I_Set_3_Alarms

I love you Al. Fuck the Sixers for many things, including playing Horford next to Embiid and Simmons and somehow blaming any poor performance on Al

  27. relax_live_longer

He’ll be part of the broadcast team after that. Honestly if I could pick one NBA athlete that I could have their life (career, money, family/personal) Horford would be high on the list. Dude just has class.
