Maybe I’m too optimistic, but I still think Bullock’s percentages will be right around his career averages by the end of the season. I know it sucks now and that these games matter, but I’m hoping he turns it around like last year. But it’s definitely tough to watch right now.

Ok, this stat is rolled out a lot (Tim and Bullock are the worst two shooters amongst qualified players), but it needs context.
“FG%” is a really bad stat because it doesn’t show the impact of the scoring.
For example, a guard who literally only shoots a high volume of 3 pointers at 38% would be a very efficient player, while a center who only takes shots at the rim and still shoots 38% would be a total scrub. These two players would have the same FG% even though their output per shot is very different.
eFG% helps offset this gap so we see the true value of the scoring in context. 3 point shots make more points because the shots are harder and lower percentages are expected. Our 3-pt only guy has a 57% eFG% while our 2-pt only C has a 38% eFG%.
Bullock and Hardaway are almost entirely 3 point shooting guys. There are three qualified players with worse eFG% than Bullock (Pat Beverley, Killian Hayes and James Bouknight) and quite a few more before Hardaway appears. Hardaway is tied with CP3 in eFG%.
So they are bad, but using FG% would especially punish guys who take a extremely high percentage of their shots as 3PAs and having a cold streak while doing so.

Mf are in love with Tim and don’t wanna accept the fact that he’s a bad shooter.
