> Jayson Tatum is the new betting favorite to win the MVP award. Who do you think should be favored?

Odds as of December 1st:

Tatum: +250

Luka: +270

Giannis: +280

Curry: +800

Embiid: +1500

After a 49pt, 11 rebound performance last night Jayson Tatum is the MVP favorite. The Celtics are a league best 18-4, on pace to win 67 games.

Luka, joker, and giannis are better IMO but if the celtics media could push marcus smart for dpoy then they’ll push this right along too

  2. ForoaKlanD

Curry at +800 is kinda wild, the Warriors are improving their record and seem better, his overall play has been very good

He should be +450 at worst

  3. legend023

Devin Booker would be an underrated pick if he keeps doing what he’s doing

Suns might be the best team in the west and he continues his 30/5/5 he’ll get some votes

I’m with Tatum. He’s a 2 way superstar. The Celtics are in the top tier of championship threats, and without Tatum they would just be seen as a 1st, 2nd round playoff exit kind of team.

Luka is more valuable in a “my previous GM sucked” kind of way, and that shouldn’t taint the award

It’s way too early but I’ll say if either Curry or Luka win MVP over Tatum, Giannis, or Book and either the Mavs or Warriors are fluttering around .500 it’ll be ridiculous to say the least. At some point winning basketball needs to matter again for this award. It can’t just be a counting stats award

  6. Looks like they’re gonna have the best record by far at this point. While Tatum hanging right alongside the likes of Luka & co. So yeah.. He should be the favorite at this point. Hard to win MVP if your team ain’t in top tier. Russ is the only who’s done it since I started watching NBA.

Edit: To those saying Jokic did it last season. No he didn’t. Suns were the only team head & shoulders ahead of the rest. And Book was never really in the MVP race.

Unlike right now where Tatum is already a frontrunner for MVP, with his team being head & shoulders ahead of everyone else.

The mvp conversation is going to be nuts this year. I think there’s 5 I wouldn’t be shocked by and you could probably throw in 2-3 more where it wouldn’t be crazy if they won. I’m a lebron fan but I’ve enjoyed each nba season more with his grip off of the nba

  8. nemocarrasco007

Tatum is the MVP right now for me. We’ll see how the discourse changes when the Suns beat the Celtics in 8 days.

  9. Hetero009

Its Tatum’s to lose as this point IMO. DBook has a much more realistic case for 1st/2nd team all-nba. I just don’t see what merit Book has that one of the other 7-8 mvp candidates isnt better in.

I’m perfectly happy with Book even being around the top 5 for mvp consideration at all

  10. AlwaysOptimism

I placed my first best this year for Tatum for MVP. I had 13:1 odds at the time. I thought I could trade in bets like stocks to capitalize on swings. But I don’t see that anywhere on the platform.

Any of you degenrate gamblers know what the deal is there?

  11. peanutbutterbeef

He’s for sure the favorite right now. He has similar stats and/or efficiency to the other top candidates but has the superior record.

  12. MVP race is gonna be so interesting if KD and Currys records get better. They have probably been better individuals then Tatum but Tatutms impact on the team has been nuts. Gonna be super super interesting over the next couple months.

If things hold though Tatum no DOUBT should win this thing.

Jokic is leading his team in points/rebounds/assists/steals. With a 70% TS%

And this is a team currently holding the 2nd seed in the West.

Not saying he should be a favorite. But 22/1 odds seems pretty crazy

  14. willbouquet

Probably won’t happen, but if Shae won that would be wild.

  15. PralineAny8271

I really think it should be Luka rn. hopefully he reaches at least top 6 seed.

  16. StopBanningMePlz412

jokic at +2200 feels like too good of odds to pass up, i guarantee he’s gonna be in the mix down the stretch

  17. Baunceychillups420

Why is Devin Booker not getting any love?

  18. Simple_Wait_7286

Tatum deserves to be the favorite right now, still a long season to go.

I can definitely see the Mavs/Warriors/Philly/Brooklyn turning their seasons around and if they finish top 4 in the conference, things will get interesting.

  19. Animetiddies415

    TaBum over CurrGOAT? 🤨Nonsense🗿

  20. Snake_Main27

Tatum as long as they keep the best record

  21. dingleberrydarla

This is so silly. It’s December 1.

  22. Vivid-Mammoth-4161

‘Most Valuable Player’ is too subjective sounding……it should just be ‘Player of the Year’ because the idea of ‘value’ can be dependent on how bad the rest of the roster is.

  23. Scary-Strategy-4460

Tbf, to me this kind of comes down to what you value more in a superstar. All-time offensive production and floor-raising with mid defense or two-way superstar play

  24. Dirkem96

Its a long season. Injuries happen. We should even talk about MVP until February.

  25. Deusselkerr

Tatum, Curry, Luka, Giannis, Jokic are the clear top 5 in my book so far

  26. RoastDaMostToast

Honestly Booker is a really nice underdog bet. Team is performing amazing without CP3 and he’s had an incredible year so far. I expect him to get some more chatter

  27. The answer is ALWAYS Giannis and gonna be Giannis for the coming years.

We’ll see if he actually wins it tho.

  28. KevinsChilli

If these are the current odds I’m going to throw a few bucks on Jokić just because, sheesh

  29. Steven81

Clear best guy on the 1st seed. Yeah, it only hasn’t worked once in the media voting Era (MJ, 1988). As long as the Cs remain first and Tatum is his usual self without missing much time, it’s him winning it in cruise control too.

It’s early in the season though, too much basketball played to be played from here to April.

  30. IRanOutOf_Names

For me it depends on how the Mavs and Warriors do. Based off of raw performance, it’s Curry right now, but if Celtics win 60 and Warriors get 4th seed, Tatum is going to get it even if Steph continues this.
