Mavs GM Nico Harrison on Luka’s workload: “Really, it just comes back to us doing what we’re supposed to do in terms of making shots. Honestly, it’s really simple. If we make shots, there’s games he should be on the bench and not having to play…Law of averages, they all equal out.”

Lmao just make shots huh? Oh what genius advice and such a simple fix.

I guess no need for any roster changes then

I can’t blame Nico completely for losing JB, though I think he should have made an offer higher than the Knicks and forced JB to choose.

But I can blame him for losing a ballhandler who dropped 28 PPG in the first round last year and deciding our most pressing need in free agency was signing Javale McGee.

Any GM who thought Brunson’s production and impact could be replaced by some combo of Frank, Green, Hardy etc. doesn’t deserve to be a GM

The guy has figured it out. 4th dimension folks.

    “Just make our shots.”

Here come the championships guys cuz no one has ever thought of this.

Not entirely wrong. But as Charles Barkley so eloquently put it, “Father Time is undefeated”. Powell, Kleber, Bullock all on the wrong side of 30. McGee inexplicably signed for 3 years at 35. THJ 30. DFS and Dinwiddie 29. The law of averages says the vast majority of that group’s will see a small decline minimum and that 1 or 2 will see a massive decline in the next year or 2.

Yeah shots aren’t falling but can he address why some of our players …. man i’m tired of typing this shit out

We’ve known this FO has been trash for years. Its not one person its a systemic disease

And this guy was hired in a critical time for organization. Without any experience working in a front office.

Dude STFU! This whole fucking FO really fucking thought Jalen Brunson was so fucking easy to replace with Josh or THJ or pretty much nobody. You really didn’t pay attention to shit he brought to the table or how he organized the offense and it’s shocking considering that they misunderstand basketball this BAD when these people do this for a living.

Still have no reliable scoring on this team outside of Luka and Din. The best thing about Jalen was he knew how to play out of rhythm and get us a bucket on his own.

  8. At this point I don’t want anyone from the Mavs top brass speaking to the media guys. Cuban, Nico, Kidd, none of them. All of these guys come out as clueless in these interviews.

These are the moments when I wish Luka was never drafted by the mavs. I was ready to move on after Dirk retired yet once again here I am witnessing how Cuban is gonna waste another superstar talent.

    – I don’t know what else Nico is supposed to say here so it’s whatever. Hope he’s working the phone ASAP.

    – Jason Kidd is starting to bother me after I liked the hire last year. We’re at a point where it’s malpractice for Powell to keep starting over Wood. Also horrible that Green isn’t getting a consistent 25 minutes a game currently. Even McGee getting a DNP last night was inexcusable considering how we were getting destroyed on the boards. He’s a good rebounder. Our rebounding metrics when he was playing in the beginning were near the top in the league and now we’ve plummeted to the bottom with Powell starting and McGee holding bench.

    – Luka can do 3 things better imo: Most important is to listen to what Barkley said on TNT and to pick up the pace and get out in transition more to get these role players in rhythm more. Get the defense some heavy legs by making them run a bit. Second, is to have some shame with his on-ball D. It’s great that he has active hands and is anticipating passing lanes better than ever. But he needs to offer more resistance on-ball. Guys are blowing by him with weak ass moves or getting to their spot with ease. Lastly, free throws.

    – It’s tough because at that point with Luka, you’re literally asking him to be a PERFECT basketball player LMAO. Guy is averaging 34-9-9 on great FG% and rising 3p% (he will be at 35+% very soon) and is taking care of the ball well considering his usage and is getting absolutely slaughtered because Mark Cuban lets his 2nd best player go for nothing. Unreal genuinely.

    – Nico and Cuban’s next 2 moves, honestly next 3 moves, have to be perfect. You guys see Luka’s frustration coming out almost every game. The clock is TICKING. Look at the squad of all his young peers. Trae, Tatum, Ja, Booker. All of their squads fully healthy are considerably better than ours. The only reason we compete is because we have one of the best offensive engines of all time.

Last night’s game may have given me depression. These quotes are just the dingleberries on top.

Nico said perfectly reasonable things, given there’s a PR filter. It’s not like we’re expecting something crazy; the players were doing great for most of the playoffs not that long ago. Why they’ve come into the season playing like ass is an entirely different and possibly coaching-related issue, but they’ve been in a bunch of these losses and just a couple more makes from guys we relied on at the end of last season turns the record into something impressive instead of depressing.
