I watch a lot of UFC MMA fights. What Kris Middleton did here was a textbook single leg take down. Great technique!! He has to work on his follow through though. The right thing to do was to pounce on top of Brooks for some ground and pound, maybe land a few elbows. Oh well, I'm sure he'll get it right next time.
