[Bobby Marks] I wrote this a few months ago on what I would like to see changed. We are at a point where there needs to be a big “buyer beware” sticker for fans interested in purchasing the first or second night of a back-to-back game.

Back to backs need to be scaled back or eliminated completely. The game today isn’t in a place where players can play those games on a regular basis, sometimes multiple times within a week, and expect to get to the playoffs fully healthy.

You mean players have to play for a whole 35 minutes two days in a row? Poor them. They shouldn’t have to work that hard. Oh well, back to my 12 hour shift 6 days a week.

Think we’ve seen that teams will also rest guys if they have 1 game over 5 day span so their guys can get almost a week off and only miss a game

Back to backs aren’t the problem, players acting soft are. If the players want to scale back games, then scale back the pay…which I’m sure they won’t agree to

Lol as if the players specifically only rest on back to backs. Reality is that for the casual fan they just have to get lucky and pray that the best players on the team decide to show up to work that day.

Was going to get my son tickets for Christmas. I don’t have faith that I can predict what starters will play. It’s a bummer that it has came to this.

Every night is “buyer beware.” This is one of the dumbest things to get upset about. You’re not guaranteed any player or outcome. That’s part of the point!

Even if we reduce the number of games, there will stull be rest games for players. I think it would be better to extend the season out a little more just to avoid too many back to back.

I’m sorry my take on this is just you know what you’re buying. If you buy tickets a month in advance, a week in advance, a day in advance there’s always the risk the player you want to see gets injured or is sick. You also know there’s a risk of a rest day.

I.e. the buyer beware sticker is already there. What’s Bobby’s answer? That it’s literally printed on the ticket?

The worst has be to road back to back games, since fans won’t get the opportunity to see certain teams as much.

There was a second game of a back to back with the Lakers @ Toronto, and LA rested Lebron and AD. Raptors won, but I felt bad for fans who shelled out hard earned money months in advance just to see Lebron and/or AD to ride the bench.

Shortening the season will not eliminate rest games. The players will then complain about something else and find new reasons to not play. Their problem is they don’t want to play but still want to collect those fat paychecks.

A 50-55 game regular season would be incredible. You’d have fewer games per week so less of a need for load management + each game would take on added importance for playoffs which would also lessen load management. There would obviously be less ticket revenue in short term but there has to be some offsetting benefit for owners in that the remaining games will be more competitive/intense and could command higher prices. I would definitely pay more for a ticket to a regular season NBA game if it were more important + less of a chance of stars sitting.
