He delivered a speech about 45 minutes before tip-off. He named all the amazing players he has witnessed and went into great detail about Kobe. He said he was there when Kobe scored 81, when Kobe tore his Achilles and still made FTs to secure a W, Shaq & Kobe’s championship runs.

Tanter said Kareem is the most dominant player he ever witnessed.

He said Norm Nixon actually helped him get the job. Tanter worked as a radio host and met Nixon. They became quick friends.

A lot of Lakers legends were shown on the big screen, giving short speeches about how much Tanter has meant to the franchise over the past 4 decades.

    “Laker Girrrrrrls”
“Two minutes. Two minutes remaining in the ballgame.”
    “Kobeeee Bryant.”

So smooth and classy. Never showboats. Never makes it about him. We’re so lucky to have this legend instead of the human boomboxes most teams use.
