[Charania] Multiple league sources and sources close to the organization say LaVine and the Bulls are not seeing eye-to-eye. Over the past few weeks, there’s been a palpable feeling across various parts of the franchise of a disconnect over LaVine’s situation in Chicago

Excerpts:

> The Bulls have held multiple team meetings to try to work out their issues, and that has included one-on-one, face-to-face sitdowns between DeRozan and LaVine, multiple sources with direct knowledge who were granted anonymity because they are unauthorized to speak publicly on the matter have told The Athletic. DeRozan and LaVine have always had a strong mutual respect for each other. Only 10 months ago, over All-Star Weekend in Cleveland, the stars proclaimed themselves as the NBA’s best duo. They maintain a good personal relationship. But their meetings have not led to in-game results so far, with a level of on-court, stylistic tension simply festering throughout the season and being magnified due to the win-loss record.

> DeRozan joined the Bulls on a three-year, $85 million deal in 2021 and will be eligible for an extension this summer worth a maximum of four years and $153.7 million. Do the Bulls view DeRozan as a centerpiece for years to come?

  1. I’m exhausted man. Lol. Don’t care about any rumors until something actually gets done.

  2. Bahamut727

I don’t even know if we could get him.. 2 firsts and maybe 1-2 swaps plus whoever they wanted from us?

  3. ihateeuge

You guys think we might be able to get Lonzo back in a hypothetical trade? He would be perfect on this team but with the injuries bulls might look at that as a bad contract to shed

  4. goatjames623

Could any other team offer a better trade package for Derozan than us? It’s hard to see a lot of teams wanting him tbh

  5. Westbrook + Bev + Picks for LaVine & Caruso ??

won’t happen but in a hypothetical would you accept

  6. TheWhisperingDeath

DeRozan would again be a bad trade.

An high usage player who can’t shoot well from 3 is exactly the kind of player you don’t surround LeBron and AD with.

If you’re getting someone from Bulls, it has to be LaVine.

DeRozan is more likely to be moved than LaVine.

I imagine most teams aren’t eager to take on a 33 year old with $28.6 million guaranteed next year despite how well DeRozan has played. The Bulls will likely have to add a sweetener to move off the contract.

Chicago to me is a great opportunity. They look poised to firesale. I’m somewhat interested in Lavine because he’s young, wildly athletic, and can be a good third star type. I feel like his asking price will be huge though.

I would honestly be down with a Derozan/Vucevic for RW deal with a pick and a swap. They get off some cash to Derozan, we get a fresh start with a bigger sized 3rd guy. I don’t really care about Vucevic but we really need the competent body while AD heals up.

  9. Bahamut727

Zach would need to say he wants to go to LA

DeRozan is realistic for us. LaVine is not. Feel like the Knicks would trump any package we have for Zach.

DeRozan, Vooch and Alex for Russ and two picks works. Then we retain flexibility with Bev and Nunn for another trade.

I don’t love that deal, I just want sharpshooters and defenders. But beggars can’t be choosers. At the very least, Vooch and DeMar take real pressure off of Bron and AD.

  11. This is the lakers FO wet dream – a big name “star” that doesn’t address the whole big wing defender conundrum that lakers have had the last 2 years

Zach has struggled w injury and apparently has not even looked good this year.

Why hitch your wagon to Zach + AD who both are notoriously injury prone?

If they do this, you better try and bring AC home and / or Bev / Nunn HAVE to go for just any wing defenders independent of caliber

Good God here we go 🤦🏽‍♂️

  12. losageless2021

I would not want Lavine’s contract, especially if his knees are busted

For this season, Russ for Vucevic+Derozan works even if its only for the sole purpose of making the pick we swap with NOLA as late a first rounder as possible and giving us a shot at the play-in

  13. Rokarion14

If there’s a fire sale get Caruso back please.

  14. I hate this rumour. Now we gonna have fans get upset that Rob cant trade Westbrook and picks for lavine.

  15. Nice_Complaint_2602

lavine is just another high scoring empty stats guy in my eyes. at least his contract isn’t as bad as beal’s

  16. chugalaefoo

Opportunities like THIS, and others that will come are the reasons you don’t waste picks for trades like Hield and Turner.

  17. philthesenutz

It’s important to note – lavine can’t be traded till Jan 15th. Idk if this sub can wait that long to keep bashing Rob to make any trades lol

But for sure Lavine is a type of player I’d sacrifice the 27 and 29 picks for

  18. kwesi777

I can’t imagine having both Reaves and Caruso on the court with Lebron. Too much white boy bball IQ. League would be fucked 😆

  19. BigBodyBrax

I’m cool. I’ll pass on the low efficiency high volume shot chucker

  20. Freeeecurry

Why do people assume it’s Lavine who’d be traded?

Why not fire the coach first

  21. someonepoorsays

yeahhhh unless lavine literally says trade me to LA do i can play for these lakers, i’m not holding my breath

  22. retrograderevolution

Thought everything was amazing after a decent half year a year ago lol. Guess dreams are built on bigger things.

  23. isit65outsideor

Laker fans went from Turner and Buddy to Zach now. 😂

Listen, Zach is not worth his contract. He’s not worth two unprotected picks. He doesn’t play defense. He has major injury concerns.

Lakers won’t be interested. They want a different star.

Also, pairing two injury prone players together (AD + Lavine) is worth than trading for Westbrick.
